I bought a TH350 ****** to replace my Muncie 4 speed. Need to know; on the shift lever, is Park the full clockwise or full counter clockwise position?

Also, can you recommend a cheap cheap cheap floor shift for a plain old driver car. Needs to have a built in neutral switch. Will probably bolt to the floor.

    Thx,

turn the lever...at one end of it's travel, it will have a long throw between detents. That's the wider gap between P and R. I think it's clockwise, but my memory ain't what it used to be.

If you're looking to buy a shifter, good luck finding something cheap, unless you luck out at a swap meet, yard sale or buddie's house.

Rotate the selector forward should be Park. Fully counter clockwise.

Cheap shifter w/nss, don't think that's really a thing, new.
B&M has some 'cheap' shifter for $200, no nss.
    Garage sale/cl***ifieds are your friend.

GM kept the NSS on the column for both floor and column shifted vehicles.
Maybe there is some medium/heavy duty GM truck/van that has an NSS mounted to the trans like Ford C4/C6/etc trans.
Or mount a C4 NSS to the TH350.
I don't recall if a th350 has any kind of mounting bosses on the trans for such a switch.

Like others said , Leaver on bottom facing downward Full C-W park.
    Log throw between P & R ,
Also check Length of 350 case afew lengths ,
Floor shifter or tunnel mount ?
I feel best to have a shifter with out
Many moving parts , in the tunnel mount shifters there where so many bad designs , Ratchets with spring steel flat metal looks like feeler gauge .
I was going suggest a Lokar floor mount
    $450 plus now .

  6. I got this off Amazon for like $120 shipped. Lokar/gennie knockoff. Fully gated. Provisions for both neutral safety switch and backup lights. Can be mounted multiple positions on trans. Comes with a different boot and knob. Though that shift knob also came off Amazon lol. Been in the car almost two years 17603964996871417345698754877960.jpg

Like was said moving the lever all the way forward is park, normally you can find 900 used shifters at a swapmeet.
Did you check your local Craigslist or Facebook marketplace or a local wrecking yard for a shifter ?

Wow! Great answers. I like the neutral switch. I think with that I can make a shifter. I mostly wanted to change to the automatic without having to cut a new hole in the floor.

    Thanks all.

Old Postal Jeeps had nice shifters that could be converted to fit different cars. They were cable operated but were easy to add a rod instead. No NSS switch , but you could add one were it had to be in park to start.[IMG]

Those shifters are getting hard to find, They also came in Jeepster Commanders and had a console over them.

That might work. Do you have one to sell? I'll definitely use the non-cable approach.
