A friend of a friend donated this thinking it was model 40 Ford. After a few minutes I noticed the bead across the top and rain gutters, hmmmm anyone know?
Dodge or Chrysler or Plymouth. Or maybe all of them? At least one early/mid thirties Chrysler had a split windshield though.
if you had access to pictures of old Dodges and Plymouths, you could look at various years, and see if any of them actually had a body line like that above the windshield. I came up blank, but then, I didn't put much time into it. Maybe when you find a picture of a car that shows the body line above the windshield, you can share the picture, so we can see that you were right.
Mopars were odd in that era, I sold a ‘33 Plymouth hood to Rootlieb and it was from a ‘33 PC series (early production) but there was also a PD that year. The ‘33 PC had a 3 or 4 inch shorter wheelbase compared to the PD because the PD used the Dodge frame. In ‘33 they introduced the six cylinder engine and maybe it cramped legroom so the Dodge frame gave more room from the firewall forward. Anyway, here are two examples of ‘33 Plymouth’s, one has the bead and one doesn’t. Chrysler did their own sheet metal stamping so who knows what went on there?
Thanks guys, it looks like Mopar to me!! The curves and insert areas are solid. It'll likely get cut up to help build my next car
