Looking for some history on this possible "A/FX" car.

Don't think it's an A/FX car as the Factory Experimental classes pretty much had the rear wheels moved forward IIRC. This one does not appear that it ever did. I would think an early Funny would be more likely.

Wow, 15yr old bourbon here! I missed this, but I have an observation (no I'm not going into***** mode). Growing up "Motown" there's little details I've seen in lots of cars. For a time, many GM cars were delivered with a blue foil decal that looks exactly the size of the 'GM' seen in this 'glass door. Whomever made the mold for the door didn't bother to remove it and perhaps even thought it was kool to leave it. This woulda been before licensing and all that drudgery that parts suppliers suffered when repro stuff was cascading the life from every angle. They're not (weren't) GM parts to the best of my knowledge. That aside, what ever happened here? Did it get bought and built back with today's safety standards? Did we ever learn who raced it? Show of hands, who else wants to know?

 

The NHRA didn’t continue with /FX in 1966. Was the Richmond track run by a different sanctioning body, or maybe even an outlaw track? Funny cars started coming on strong by late ‘65 and the factories didn’t produce any more FX cars, Bill Jenkins ‘67 ran Super Stock. Edelbrock got the first BB Camaro for development work and no doubt Grumpy got his soon after, but those cars fit into /SS.

 

I'd seen that too but this one was a pretty old topic. It would be kool to know if this car ever had notoriety or been driven by any number of our heros. JMO...

 

Since there is now an "O/T" section...? Maybe move it and keep the interest / history alive? JMHO.
