Hot Rods Which aftermarket steel wheels will accept original hub caps

I would like to use some original caps that I have.

 

Depends on which wheels and which hubcaps...

 

Guess it does doesn't it. pre 49 Ford 15". I have a set of 46 caps that I would like to use. Seems some of the repo wheels don't take the early caps well.

 

Find some original wheels? Later Ford pickups had 15" and still used the '40-'48 size caps. That's what I have on my '40.

I bought these aftermarket wheels from Coker and the caps came from Bob Drake. HRP

 

AFAIK, none of the aftermarket wheels will accept OEM Ford caps, but I may be wrong. Ford truck wheels from the mid-'50s to the early '60s (64? 65?) still used that type of cap. I know I've seen postings about this and some guys have modified either the wheel or the cap to make them fit.

Wheelsmith will make these but like you say factory caps will not fit. I have written in the back of mine. “Please put back on these will not fit your Ford wheels.

 

Gennie wheels from wheel vintique. Must be gennie. All factory caps will fit. Summit racing have them in stock.free shipping over 100.00.they come gray primer powder coated.must be gennie style and not smoothie style.

 

Yep. I made the mistake of buying the smoothie wheels. I have been waiting for hubcaps for 2 years this month….
