Mark I love the Christmas card pic and as I’m typing this we are watching Svengoolie:D

I didn’t take any photos of my progress but I tinkered in the garage getting the electric fuel pump ready to put in my 51. Went to AutoZone and got the toggle switch, wire, inline fuse block, and corrugated wire loom to install the thing and it was just over $90 for that little bit of stuff.o_O I have all of that in the garage somewhere but it’s easier to buy it than look for hours on end trying to find it. Tomorrow if it’s not raining still I’ll put it in and hopefully get to Sam’s to fill it up.

Bought a ‘56 rear bumper, straightened the LH end up and cleaned all the flakey chrome off. Offered it up, didn’t like it.

So cut the centre out of the stock bumper to scratch an itch lmao!

Fired up Wifeys T-Bird and moved it a whole two feet, encouraging that the cruise-o-matic makes it go forward and backwards. Hopefully get the brakes working before the weather shuts me down for the winter.

Cut and shaped dash inserts for the roadster project.
Intended to do the mother-of-pearl on the roadster, but liked the grey so much on the Tudor dash that I had to cut one in the grey for the roadster too.
Looks a little blue, but it is grey. :p

Is that drum wrap? What are you using to cut/shape it. I'm concerned about chipping. Thanks,

Watched that last night…sounds great except that header hitting the body which I’m sure you have already taken care of

I thought I had it, I've taken the headers off and tried to beat the firewall in but the roll bar plate is right on the other side so it doesn't budget. Where it hits on the header is right where the 4 tubes merge into the collector, so again extra strong double walled in that area.
When I put the exhaust back on after racing it seems to have landed in the chirping spot. You would think an engine sitting on solid mounts wouldn't move around to much but it does at idle, under load it doesn't hit.
Really does kinda agitate me, maybe I'll revisit it before winter sets in, but I do have other stuff on the 57 that needs done before winter too.

It is from a sheet of “pick guard”.
Easy to cut (jigsaw with a scroll blade) and shape (belt sander and/or files).
Just go slow and can use painters tape (green stuff) to ensure jigsaw base doesn’t scratch surface.
Also, do main shape first and then gauge holes. Gives ya some wiggle room.
If ya get impatient like I do. Ya can speed up the gauge holes by using an air tool with a carbide tip, but don’t really advise it. :p:p:p

Edit: added a pic of pickguard stuff I use.

When I built my roadster the 6 gauge alt cable got routed from the powergen to the inner fender and then through the cowl and back to the trunk. I covered it in a shrink tube that had a black cloth cover and red tracers, it looked okay, but I never liked seeing it. Plus, the sun had faded the cloth cover, so it was time for a change and since I was in there changing the temp sensors (my SW gauges don't read very accurate and SW recommended different senders to correct the issue) I figured now was as good a time as any to fix this eye sore.

I also never put a rubber boot over the alt connector, so I got one on Amazon delivered today. When I started cutting away the cloth cover, I found there was an inner black layer that was made of nylon or something similar. It took a bit with a razor blade, but the old cover came off in bits and pieces and left the black cover unscathed. I also had left enough cable in the cowl to make the new run to the alternator without making a splice (lucky).

It is basically invisible, but you can make out the black boot on the back of the power gen, the cable routes to the top of the head where it is held with leather straps and a bolt down retainer (where the oil filter housing holes are), down the back and into the cowl along with the oil sending unit wire.

The rest of the wires (lights, horn, signals) remain in the inner fender held by loops I welded in during construction and leather straps my daughter made for me. $8 spent on the boot cover (it came with one black and red, I'll save the red one for another project. Cheap project, major improvement. Getting my winter projects under way.

I finally got around to****embling the column shifter, adding an additional shift position for modern 700R. Shifter casting was machined for new 3D printed*****ons that seat in recesses. Additional hole won't allow for OEM style rolled edge. C'est la vie FR8rxhYq.jpeg 20251024_135652.jpg 20251024_135515.jpg Shift gate1.jpg

Took my beast out yesterday for what may be the final outing for the season. Runs and drives great, throttle response is frightening, tire fryer with the street tires on. WIN_20240517_17_39_59_Pro.jpg

Yes, I hate to say it, but I have damaged my old cars more than once trying to get them in or out of winter storage....
