I'm going to keep the A bellhousing and transmission. It would be nice to get some synchro action but I don't want to get into pedal relocation and motor mount fun at this time... Maybe down the road but for now I'll just keep it simple.
you could run a Mitchell transmission that has better ratios and synchros. It directly replaces your original transmission
That would be nice, but the price tag on that is just too big. I can live with the A transmission. I'd rather spend the money on a quick change rear end down the road.
"That would be nice, but the price tag on that is just too big. I can live with the A transmission. I'd rather spend the money on a quick change rear end down the road." PM me I have a Halibrand 301 that I am not going to use and it is in Ypsilanti.
fun/dollars I have a Mitchell modified A transmission in one of my A's coupled with a Mitchell driveline overdrive .... I would never again. The Mitchell transmission has popped out of first under deacceleration since new. I have a long downgrade to leave my house...complaints to Mitchell are dismissed It has always showed glitter in the gear lube and is getting noisier and noiser along with starting to pop out of third while just motoring down the road....as does the overdrive...since new just my experience and thinking about pulling it and going back with a stock transmission
It's not an overdrive transmission, but the M40 has 4 synchronized gears, is robust, and fits into the original drivetrain with the truck bell housing and adapter. Greetings Harald
