Thank you! It was a $600 tudor and a $300 coupe roof fell in my lap. Shoebox coupe is my dream car so I had to make it happen!

I guess I have one of these again as of last night. Haven’t even unloaded off the trailer yet.

Has anybody here replaced a 49 through 51 two door sedan side window with one piece glass? I’m not a fan of the stock look. I know I can have a glass company cut flat glass for me in any shape. Just wondering if there was a kit out there or any tips and tricks on the deal.

sorry i don't know the answer to your question, but that's a great looking car. really line the thin-line white walls.

Yeah, that’s pretty slick. I’m specifically talking about the quarter windows. The door windows don’t bother me that much. The vent wings look natural on there, but they do not look right to me on the back windows. I’ve even had a guy ask me “did that used to be a four-door”.

You may have a little problem with the rear wheel well clearance. I would suggest first take your door panels off and take some measurements.

When I did mine I just put the glass in without the ability to roll the windows down in the rear. It was an easy install and never had any issues with leaks. 000_0239.jpeg

Yes, I don’t have any reason to roll those down so I may just remove the regulators and glue them in. Did you have the glass cut at your local shop or did you find it pre-cut?

I made a pattern and took it to my local glass shop and told them I wanted it in a tempered glass. They could do it but it had to be sent out to be tempered so in a few days they called me and I picked them up. I used a double face foam tape they had to install the glass and a single side foam tape on the garnish molding to seal it from both sides.

I replaced the quarter windows after making some wood filler pieces to take up the track space from the removed crankable windows and vent framing. Used 1/2 inch wide one side adhesive weather strip (not the airy foam type but the rubberized seal strip type) to 'stick' to the inside flange edge of the opening. I found channel weatherstripping for the glass pane and the combination worked out just fine. You can get any local auto glass
house to cut a shatter resistant auto glass pane for you. bob

Here is the closest shot of the rear window that I could find. I can take better views if you need. bob upload_2025-10-18_10-1-51.jpeg

I never even noticed Sedans had that in the rear. Yeah, yours looks WAY better than stock...

Here's a project I picked up last year. Has most of the parts to finish.

Was a extremely nice tub until someone tried to put a 5.0/AOD in it and cut the floor to pieces. I'm looking for a decent 4dr tub with decent floors and trans tunnel so I can fix this one.

Aw man I hate to hear that. I built a 347 and had a C4 behind it and all I had to do is get a 3lb hammer and beat the tunnel out a bit for my cooler lines. He obviously didn’t use his head whenever he tried that.

I know....it's frustrating. He cut the tunnel and up into the firewall. Making a hard job even harder.

Well it looks like it is pretty solid which is hard enough to find in a convertible. You might could get a set of floor pans and the tunnel from EMS or Shoebox Central (they carry them) and put it together cheaper. Oh and I love the Packard in the background ;)

Wow. I didn't know they carried tunnels anywhere. I think I'll definitely be ordering one of those.

    Thanks for the info!

The Packard is super solid, but is a 4dr. I bought it for the rear quarters and tail lights. Also the bumpers.

But Im having a hard time cutting it up....complete car

@Rand Man A few years ago I had a chopped 49 coupe, I used the original riser, made a new channel for the back of the glass and used stock pieces to roll the window down, although you will find that the rear of the glass will hit the tire wheelhouse. Since mine was chopped I was able to just get it to clear. Sorry, no pictures. In your case I'd probably just get glass cut and mount it permanently.
