I think he left it so he could show people his skills. I am not a fan, finish the other side and make an early Max Wedge out of it. Those ugly Dodges look great as early Super Stock cars.
Several years ago here in Socal the CHP pulled over what they was a stolen Mercedes with Mazda plates. Full on high risk traffic stop. Turns out the owner did a hell of a job installing all things Mercedes emblems, etc. Made the local news of the CHP not able to tell the difference between a Mazda and a Mercedes.
Did 30 in car factory. Stuff happens. First big boo boo I remember was the operator was miss spelling Bonneville on the rear lower quarters. Letters had studs on them body had pre punched holes. Couple were close.
In Australia there were 3 door ambulances 2 doors on the curb side, one on drivers side. This Dodge is odd but cool.
i saw that and thought that was a factory deal. i had a first-gen econoline van when junkyards were full of them, and saw ones with side doors on the right AND the left!
I've made the same mistake on a later model Kia or Hyundai I think. A larger black 4 Dr sedan. It didn't have the emblems changed over, but from 20 feeet or so it just screamed "Mercedes". Especially the front end styling and tail lamps. I had to take more than a second look.
painted a friends chevy van that was a coke cola service van that did not have a side door probably a 67 or 68
A friend has one of these cars. He is doing the 4-door to 2-door swap. Apparently it's quite easy on that body style. His car might be in that current state.
He really should have a chrome valve cover and a header on the hot rod side. Maybe also come up with an air cleaner that's half low restriction and chrome, and half stock.
Hi Mike. I saw like a 1963-64 Plymouth B body sedan with the same door configuration about six months ago on marketplace. They said what the deal was, special taxi or something like that. Pretty cool.
The AMC Pacer featured asymmetric doors, with the p***enger's side door being intentionally designed to be 4 inches longer than the driver's side door. "The unique design of the AMC Pacer included asymmetrical doors to enhance usability. The longer p***enger side door was specifically created to facilitate easier entry and exit for rear p***engers, especially when entering from the curb side. This design choice reflects the Pacer's focus on maximizing interior space and p***enger comfort."
My wife's grandfather had one with doors on both sides. If you opened all of the doors....yeah, all 8 of them, the Econline almost disappeared. Lynn
Probably not but a conversion to use as a taxi is the only thing I can think of - but that would indicate it being done back in the day? I owned one of these and they were pretty roomy in the back and it was great to haul the kids around in …. I would drive it now too! Not for nothing but the driver side does look well done …..
