Hi, new to this website and I would like to ask for some help identifying some vintage car parts that I have come across. Some of the parts have "32 PB" written on them and from researching online it appears they may be 1932 Plymouth PB parts. Any help identifying would be appreciated.
One easy way to see if the parts you have fit a specific car, is to look at pictures of that car. Fortunately BringATrailer auction site usually has really good pictures of the cars they list for sale, so you can see a lot of views. for example, a 32 Plymouth PB, with several views of the hood https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1932-plymouth-pb-convertible-coupe/ Those two vents are the back are something that very few cars have, and the shape of the hood at the front center where it fits around the radiator cap, as well as the rounded area in the louvers around the latch handles, pretty well confirm that is what it fits.
Thanks for the quick replies, I see there are a couple different models, sedan, convertible or "open" and roadster. I believe these are for a sedan.
Most cars used the same hood for all models, unless they had the option of a 6 or 8 cylinder engine, then the 8 might or might not have a longer hood.
That part won't matter. As long as it's from the same model (in this case, PB is the model) the hood will interchange. Sedans don't use different hoods than roadsters or coupes. Rear fenders and trunk lids are often different, but not the hood.
In 1931 Plymouth’s were designated PA’s, were built on a 109 3/8” wheelbase and the rear window in the coupes and sedans was oval. The lines of the body resembled the Ford Model A in that they were kinda simple and boxy. Early in ‘32 they sold the same basic body and those were also PA’s but at some point the PB was introduced with sleeker lines and a longer 112 3/8” WB. 1933 brought the PC with the same four cylinder engine as the ‘32’s had, but later that year there was a six cylinder engine and a 4” longer wheelbase. That change required a longer hood and front fenders and a new model designation, the PD. I had a neighbor with a ‘32 PA sedan hot rod, that oval window was pretty cool looking. Here are the two ‘32 Plymouth models, top is the PA with the shorter hood and oval window, PB hood extended over the sides and top of the extended firewall and the back window was rectangular.
They are for 32 Plymouth PB. I would be interested in purchasing them if you want to sell. Call me at 916-208-7045. Thanks, JN
Had a good friend that had a 1932 3 window PB Plymouth coupe, it was his daily driver from the 70's till the early 2000's. the car looked like it was chopped from the factory. HRP
