Spent the wait in the parking lot in the car sketching quick little doodles :D

And this is what I'm currently working on.. I know no cars - but it's something I wanted to try for years, drawing portraits of the car's people..

1926 Model T Surf School Truck

    Hello,

Since the remnants of the last Baja, Mexico hurricane, turned into a tropical storm fizzled out in the middle of the coastline, as usual, it still sent waves up the coastline to So Cal. The warm waters of the Baja Mexico coastline all the way down the mainland Mexico coastline is ripe for hurricanes/tropical storms. They all usually, move up the coast towards So Cal.

But, the cold water current that comes down the whole Canada/USA coastline is cold and strong. So, what happens when the cold water keeps going down past San Diego and heads West? It creates a border, so to speak, and makes the warm water hurricane/tropical storms head West to Hawaii. The last hurricane to actually make it past the barrier of cold water was the one that hit San Diego in 1858… yikes!

So, with those last remnants of waves coming up the coast in October, it is never too late to break out the surf mobiles/surfboards for a Fall season set of waves to ride.

The 1926 Model T panel truck was based on the short chassis of the sedan. Block out the side rear windows and a new model, a Sedan Delivery was created. Having been in many sedans and Sedan Delivery hot rods, one always admired the good finishes that it took to make the hot rod. But, the one thing we noticed is that there was a lack of room in the back seat area to the rear door.

So, with a few more inches of extended body panels, the Sedan Delivery became a full fledged panel truck of the real kind, not just a blocked out window Sedan Delivery.

Now, there was more room to stretch out during the hey days of early 60s surfing and those long road trips in So Cal surf spots. The question would be brought up as to why a longer version would not be better for much more space. Well, there was the question of proportions and style. Too short looked like a copy cat. Too long and it looked like a long funeral home station wagon . No one likes “those” panel trucks or station wagons… despite the costs and accessories.

But, Halloween builds could use more space or two. Plus, the abundance of commercial, local surf schools during the summer are the core of learning. The abundance of high school surf classes plus surf teams, and that leads into the classes offered from each of the coastal colleges for credit, too. A college elective class that could sound like “Surfing 101.”

1926 Model T Suburban Wagon with definite “air shocks…” Along with a lengthened limousine chassis for stability. But, plenty of seats and room inside for personal coastal camping adventures with the bigger interior spaces. Three row seats plus room for the necessities for an all day excitement at the beach.

It is not a sprinter, but a "Walk, Don't Run" type of station wagon... YRMV

I built this out of some scrap aluminum , copper and brass that I had left over from some other projects. I always like the style of the early steam engines......
