    Thanks for the complements, The Cherokee rodders host 2 shows a year one in the spring and the other one in the fall.

    This was the 25 year and the count was a little over 550 cars, this was their biggest show, they give all the money to the participants after expenses, 2 large 50/50 drawings, envelopes with one hundred bucks to five hundred bucks, even the loosing hand on the poker run & the poker walk won cash.

    All kinds of awards, last spring a large elk entered and stopped and started licking a car, the president gave a award for the elk lick favorate.

    This show is very laid back much like the runs back in the good old days. HRP

    It's been a while since I went to the show but it looks like it's still a good one to visit.

    The elk lick award now that’s an award I would love to have! I’ve had a deer walk up to my woodie and sniff at it. My wife was amazed and I told her he never seen a stick on wheels before :D

    @Grandadeo
    Yep. We moved from small mountain town Rogersville to Murfreesboro last week, so Wife could be closer to the daughters and grandddaughters, plus a great grand that’s due in December.(and named after the Wife)
    I was out numbered five to one. Resisted as long as I could.
    But we were blessed with 16 years of log house, acreage and scenery.
    Now we’re “gentryfied” in a real neighborhood with less to maintain. (1-1/2 ac). It does have a detached shop that I’m expanding, so that’s good.
    Lots of car stuff going on, plus a best car buddy lives close by in Franklin.
    Tough leaving, like Banner Elk to Jensen. That was a long time ago, eh?

    After seeing your log cabin and acreage , I know it was hard to give that up but as the old adage goes," if momma ain't happy nobodys happy" . HRP

    It's been 42 years since we left Banner Elk so our kids grew up here in Beautiful Downtown Jensen Beach. Now with six grandkids here I hardly ever bring up a return to the mountains. Plus the thought of moving projects and quality early Ford stuff again has made me very content to stay put. Good to hear from you. Speaking of a long time ago....

    That picture was taken at Orlando Early Irons Easter Rod Run awards party back in the 70s, you remember the 70s don't you? That stylish on stage dude on the right is our ol' buddy Bill.

    Yep, wish I still had some of that hair! That’s Jim Debes in the t shirt, holding the mic. He had a rod shop in Orlando called Unique Antiques. Last I talked to him he and Linda were in Crystal River. He was a big 409 guy, had a yellow Model A coupe and a T bucket (remember those?) running them. Actually drove the T from Orlando to Gatlinburg Run one year. Sent the pics below.

    The Easter Rod Run was always FREE to entrants. Held it in beautiful Loch Haven Park in Winter Park. Had games, free dinner and door prizes. Clubs from Tampa, South Florida, Jacksonville, and Georgia all supported it. Good times back then.

    Sorry to run off in the weeds with your post Danny!

    Almost back Bill. Interesting that Jim Debes was big into 409s. About 1976 I gave him, I believe, the 348 I planned for my chopped '41 Cheebie cdan. Went with a small block.
