I saw, and loved both those trucks, but the one that really turned my crank was the '27 that was white pearl with candy red shading......

To me the 34 Ford truck cab has always been "The Truck" cab that every hot rodder wanted. From the time I was about 12 & started reading Rod & Custom, Hot Rod, & Car Craft magazines the 34 Ford truck was in a lot of those magazines. This one is spot on.

    An unusual hot rod build…

    Hello,

If and when I see a hot rod like this, it always reminds me of the Altered Coupes and Compe***ion Coupes that we saw weekly at Lion’s Dragstrip in our time period of 1957-60.

No fenders, big slicks sticking out from the body, and a lowered rake stance build for those Altered Coupes and Compe***ion Coupes.

No, I would not want to follow an open wheel roadster or coupe anywhere in public. There is enough road grime to blast your following car. When my wife and I rode our Harley Sportster to various places in So Cal, the car(s) in front of us always threw “stuff” back from the tires and caused “pin *****” feelings on our faces. If the rocks or grime was large enough, it was felt on our sweaters or leather jackets.

If those flying objects are hitting us while riding on normal streets along the coast, there must be some damage being done to our paint finishes and chrome parts. Street Cars, Hot Rods, Or Motorcycles… Yikes!

But, for those that like this style, it was based on old drag racing cars as full fenders were for the daily drivers that brought their cars to the drags to compete in the street legal cl***es. Whereas, the fenderless versions of the hot rods became compe***ion cars only without fenders.

Then the blend became acceptable? for daily drivers as it was less is more, type of build…

It still takes skill and thought to create this version of hot rods. But, as far as being Street legal? The inspectors at the local DMV inspection buildings and road checks by the CHP may have other ideas for those fenderless hot rods. YRMV
