Looks like The Old Chrome Coupe made the back cover of the 2026 Bob Drake/Hop Up Calendar...

We were cleaning and organizing my shop for my annual open house. The ch***is parts from my 5w were all on dollies, so I had an idea...

And I think it made a cool display piece for the open house. Plus it's funner to look at this way than just parts on carts!

  9. I just love this car! It is such a great throw-back to the days when show-cars had tons of beautiful chrome . . . something we've not seen done for many years. I can't imagine what the "chrome bill" is for this build, but if yah have it, then it is worth it!

That makes my pee pee feel funny.

  12. Professional shots of that exact display are in order.

  13. A beautifully dressed flattie, surrounded by all that chromed suspension makes for the ultimate display, no? Extremely creative Neal!

I agree 100%. I'd love to see what a professional could do with it as it sits. Once the car starts going back together, a lot of these parts will barely be seen.

I stood there staring at it, mesmerized by all the chrome and beautiful details when it hit me "There's no frame here!"

For the past few years, Neal's 5 window progress has been front and center at his hot rod run/party. This year as we were driving around the hills I was wondering what progress would be on display today. I was pretty sure the paint wasn't done so, that probably wasn't it. The mock up of the beautiful drive train was a very cool display.

Kinda of reminds me of all the old cutaway photos and artwork from older magazines.

    Hello,

The photos are good, but a lot of busy background “stuff” does not center on the main hot rod ch***is/motor. I have been messing around with my basic photo program most Windows Computers have built in place. It is fun, but slightly time consuming.

Hope you like the changed photo. The background is still there, but not in clear focus as the main portion of the great angle photo. YRMV

    Note:

There are some photo programs that can take out the “stuff” and still keep the original concept of the photo… garage location, etc. But, then the ch***is/motor can get lost in the busy stuff…
