    Cyclone Billy

    Hello All,
    I inherited my father's 1966 Mercury Comet Cyclone GT 390, 2 Door Hardtop w/Merc-O-Matic. Cardinal Red with White interior. Data Plate 63H T H5 18L 33 D 4

He had the car for at least 50 years, and I helped him in the garage as he rebuilt and restored it. The engine parts were in the back seat when he purchased it and I spent many a summer day applying cleaner, scrubbing, whipping and letting it dry in the sun.
After everything was rebuilt, it was repainted (I was told it was airplane paint, but not sure), I helped him get the doors back on and aligned and run the white strips on the upper and lower body. My thin arms were used to snake down into the engine compartment to get the bolts started. The time I spent with my dad in the garage as a little girl, what some of the best memories I have of him.

Next order of business is to drain the fluids, replace filters, batteries and tire inspection, etc. and get it on the road.

Interiors wise the only things I need address is the mylar is bubbled on the passenger door panel and the seats need to be recleaned.

The pictures were taken when it was taken from his garage. No washing or detailing has been done yet and you can see it is still in excellent condition. Can't wait for the rain to stop here in NC so I can get started.

Any additional advice would be appreciated.

  2. Welcome to the HAMB from Illinois.
Nice Cyclone. I hope it's on the road soon.
