I am rebuilding the transmission for a '38 Coupe Model 82A. I believed it has the original 60 HP engine and transmission. However, I have been having some trouble with replacement parts. When I buy an item that is supposed to fit a 37-39 60 HP trans, the parts are generally too small or don't look like what is in the transmission. My most recent issue is that I replaced the clutch cross shaft bushings and reamed them to fit the existing shaft. I would like to replace the shaft since I now believe it is slightly bent. The shaft is about 13 1/2" long (Ford parts book number 73-7510). Every replacement I find is more like 11 to 11 1/2 long. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement shaft that will match the existing one? At this point I'm not sure what to search for. The transmission serial number is stamped *54 401510 above the clutch inspection cover, and the casting number is 78-7006 with the bottom rib.

Some 60’s had a transmission that took full size internals. I think only the case was special.
