I'm about to tackle what appears to be a common upgrade. I'm putting a T5 trans in to replace the factory 3-speeed. What I'm asking is for those that have done this same swap to tell me what the length is of their replacement driveshaft. I'm using stock speed-shop bought parts for the rear end adapters. I guess I'm****uming (and we all know what that means!) that all T5's have the same tailstock length and that all U-joints are the same size, so all that's left is the driveshaft itself. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks!

What rearend? Nothing is common in hot rodding. Who are you going to blame if someone gives you a measurement, you order your $400 driveshaft, and it’s the wrong size? Just pull out your own tape measure.

Thanks, alchemy, I was hoping that it was a "cookie-cutter" part and that with a factory stock rear end, that a "common length" was a result. Of course I would use my own tape measure if and when I install everything except for the missing shaft! That's a given!!!

No such thing as a factory stock 35 rearend that uses an open driveshaft. Did you convert it with original 48 parts, or a kit from Speedway or Hot Rod Works? All will possibly have different lengths. See what I mean?

It's hot rodding. We don't really do things "off the rack". That's the whole idea really of building your own car. Different adapters for the flathead to T-5, different tail shafts on the*******s, so many variables.
Sounds like the OP bought a rear end adapter kit to convert it to open driveline.

Thank you all for the feedback. I agree with all that's been said. Haven't bought any parts yet, just thought I could get a little more definitive info before I did! Also didn't want to wait an additional month for a driveshaft to be built/shipped after I had everything else installed. Oh well, as with most everything else in life...no short cuts...slow & carefull gets the job done correctly & proudly!!!
