Yea, she was out in the shop the other day and saw it ***uming it was water in it. When I told her it was gas she wasn't real excited. Guessing I will end up getting to buy a box of those little ****ers to put our honey in soon...

Putting it into the motor. There’s a thread on it somewhere on here that the consensus was that Kroil was the go to next to a little bit of kerosene. I’m going to pull it all out to lube the linkage and motor since the seals are dried out on the wiper arms and they need to be replaced so it will not leak whenever I wash the car or it rains.

Aw it ain’t broke it’s just being persnickety like mine is doing. Have you changed the flexible fuel line on it yet? I honestly think that the problem was with it being cracked and letting the fuel evaporate because after swapping it out I haven’t had the need for the pump other than flooding the motor out the other night when I put Stabil in the tank.

Interesting. I wondered what you meant when you mentioned an NOS hose. Someone has apparently cut the end off my hardline coming from the tank and then screwed a short hard line with no end into the pump so a normal bulk hose with hose clamps can go on it. Hoping I can mess with mine this afternoon and evening.

image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg I lubed the wipers and the speedo cable and now I have to dig through this mess and find all the bulbs and replace the ones that are not working. I miss my Painless Wiring harness I had in my last shoebox because everything was very neat and in order under the dash and I could see everything perfectly

Apparently there’s two different types of hoses that can go on the car, ones for the ‘49-‘50 and the ‘51. The ends that fasten to the fuel pump are different, the earlier ones have a conical end and the later ones are just flat. Fortunately my pops had several boxes of them for both types. Nothing wrong with just a bulk type of hose it just makes it easier to replace. :)

Thank you, my dad was wanting to drive this one more so I’m having fun getting it ready to put on the road for a daily while my other OT daily hot rod is being torn down for a paint job.

Finished up today with changing trim rings out to the accessory ones and took the trunk guard off. I really like the look without the trunk guard even though it’s a pretty rare accessory but it cleans it up a lot.

Well I had a lovely day yesterday….. you know that the past week or so I have been fixing all the little issues that I had here and there so I could make it my daily for the winter. So my happy self takes the car out to go to Sam’s and as soon as I leave the neighborhood it’s starts to lose power here and there. Okay I turn around and as I get back to the hood it starts running good. I ride the hood for a minute and decide it was okay so I hit the road again. Halfway to Sam’s it’s acting stupid and died a couple of times on me but thankfully I could pop the clutch to get it running again. I turn around and limp it back home park it and when I looked back I saw I lost one of my accessory trim rings…….great now I have to go find it:rolleyes:
Ride around tracing my steps and can’t find it so I come home tell the wife I’m finally going to Sam’s and be back soon. As I’m pulling out of the neighborhood I see the trim ring in the road so I run pick it up and it’s destroyed
Later in the evening I saw that I had some water and crud in the sediment bowl cleaned it out and put my old trim rings back on the car. I crank it up and it’s running better but has a slight miss to it so I’m thinking I have some trash in carb and I did flood it out when I primed the system after cleaning the bowl so I’ll pull the plugs and clean them and change the wires because I realized that they have been on the car for 16 years.

This is what a NOS trim ring looks like after it’s been run over a few times…..

Yeah I was thinking about that too, kinda like birds of a feather !!:D
I think that I got the crud in the fuel whenever I put the electric pump on. I drove it until it was just about empty so it condensation could’ve been a factor along with cutting the line might’ve loosened up some crud.

Worked on the hot rod today and was able to swap out the seals for the wipers, put the acorn nut covers on the heads, and started buffing the car out. I’m about halfway done and will hopefully get finished tomorrow but who knows I’m taking my time and doing it right so it might take awhile. Here’s a few pictures……. Is this like a compe***ion or just encouraging each other? I need to buff mine too. I was honestly just looking at that at the gas station a few minutes ago when I stopped on the way home from work. :D

    Looking good Billy!!!

Looks like that Meguires stuff is working good! I have only ever tried 3M and am a creature of habit…or resistant to change or something like that.

I normally use 3M exclusively but I was out of the stuff and saw this at Harbor Freight so I decided what the heck. It’s okay but I do love their wax:p

Far from a compe***ion the way I see it we are encouraging each other and hopefully one of the days they’re sitting next to each other at a show or cruise in.

What are these wheel covers? How do they work? I know there are for a 50 Ford but that’s it. 7da4b03ac7b16fc3a9dada09878042cd.jpeg

Those are the accessory trim rings and they snap over the wheel covers. They look really nice on the cars my convertible has them on it.

    I’m on a roll boys!!:D

Been at it since 4 this morning polishing the chrome, bolting parts on that I had to remove so I could buff it, and buffing the snot out of it. I’ve got everything done but the drivers side and hopefully I can get it knocked out before my wife calls me in to get cleaned up so we can go do some running around. image.jpg

I was afraid I would have to sand on the car to get it to good paint:oops: I hope it doesn’t want to turn pink or look speckled but it has to be done. The paint job is only 40+ years old and single stage at that so it’s lived a good life. But here’s where I’m at now…. image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

Thanks, it’s taking some time and effort with a lot of patience to get it to this point. Sad thing is I have to go get some sandpaper so I can get the ugly off and I know I have at least 100 sheets of dang near all the grits going up to 2000 but darned if I know where they are:rolleyes: I bet I run into them after I finish this up like the fuel pump fiasco :p

I had a low idle miss after cleaning a lot of trash in the fuel bowl on the pump so I sprayed some carb cleaner, cleaned the plugs and replaced the wires and it’s running smooth as ever. Finished the buff and stuff so I took it out for a drive and everything is working fine. Now she is sitting in the driveway ready for duty and my OT is in the backyard for a paint job.
