I recently purchased these skirts ( possibly jimmy jones ) but unknown - seller stated that were in a body shop in inkster / Dearborn Michigan - they do not fit a 49-51 merc - so I’m hoping someone sees the color and can match to a car built over 30 years ago in southeast Michigan ! Thanks fellas
They look like the shoebox bubbles I bought a few years ago. They don't look like Jimmy Jones skirts, I have a pair of them, too, and they don't look like yours. Don't know who made my shoebox skirts, but they weren't homemade.
Just as well they don't fit simply because Bubble skirts never look right on Mercs to begin with. The best look on a Merc is still the flush mounted 51 skirts like Paul Harper did on MS Merc. Well it looks like using my image straight from photobucket no longer works.
I see the custom haters are already trying to derail this thread but I do agree with Williebill that they look like they'd fit a Shoebox Ford, which has a less tall wheel opening than the Merc but also are slab sided enough that those would fit flush. Hopefully the paint on them will help tie them to the car they were originally on, although that could be tough unless it was a fairly well known car.
I am far from a custom hater and I think bubble skirts are the ugliest thing to ever be put on a custom car. I've said it before and I will say it again. They make a car look like a baby walking around with a full diaper. And posting Dave Jenkins '57 won't change my mind.
Mmmmmmm bubble skirts. I’d section em a little wider and run em cutting up some old cruisers for my more door
I own several sets of skirts both original and Foxcraft, used them but not a fan of them. But those on the right car would look *****in!
