From the top 20th row of the spectator side bleachers of Lion’s Dragstrip.

    Hello,

Most of my films were shot from the top row,(20) of the spectator’s side of the Lion’s Dragstrip location. The best spot to film was right below us on the grass field in front of the chain link fence. It was right on the dragstrip where all of the “pro photographers” were given the advantage of front row seats. So, with that advantage and their expensive, massive array of camera equipment, where are those photos?
upload_2025-10-7_4-54-48.png At ground level, one gets the real action shots. Everyone else had to get in the bleachers for their photos or films.

I even walked across the staging area to get to the Pits side of the starting line for a different angle of drag racing action. But, the bleachers were not 20 rows up. So, the films were raised, but lower than from the spectator’s side.

A photo from 20 rows up … some teenager getting a famous hot dog and coke on a break from filming all day.

From the top row of the bleachers:

The only way to stand on a ladder was to be a pro photographer. We had to stand behind the fence, up in the bleachers that were on both sides to try and get the best shots of early drag racing action.

Check out J NAKI You Tube channel for more films at early Lion’s Dragstrip from the ground level, mini bleachers and the super tall spectator’s side bleachers. YRMV

From the ground level, top row, up close and away from the bleachers:

Interesting detail...the Towel City slicks and chrome OEM wheels that were on the back of Chucky's A sedan in the photo below are the same ones that are on the rear of my Falcon.
