I’m looking for recommendations on companies that supply original seat covers for sixties cars. Is it best to buy the fabric from some place like SMS in Oregon or buy a replacement seat cover from a place like Pro Fit in Alabama?

I like SMS and ended up doing complete custom upholstery in my truck with their fabric.

    Stock or custom?
    Very complex or simple?
    Any parts with embossed details?

Your question is too vague to answer which way to go. It can vary a whole lot in cost and even if it's possible.

All of the 60s and 70's cars I restored had PUI interiors. Best that I know of short of having a pro cover them.

This is SMS bought 1956 Ford Fairlane Pea**** broadcloth but sewn by a local guy in the design of a 1955 Ford Sunliner….the shop told me to buy the material and how much….it was not inexpensive. My family owned both models bought new. I thought I would combine what I liked about both. IMG_0039.jpeg

If you've got plenty of money and time, order from SMS. Don't be in a hurry. They aren't.

  8. If you end up hunting a headliner avoid Newport upholstery lol

If SMS doesn't have the cloth in stock walk away. They weave their own fabric and will only do it when they get enough demand to justify doing a run of that particular pattern.

I asked for a sample. Recieved a 6” square in 2 weeks.. Ordered 5 yards and had in a week….they knew where it was.

You got lucky. They are not renowned for their customers service.
