Projects 348 powered 40 Ford sedan

Hi Joel, the 'plan' is to have the fuse panel on the p***engers side, run the loom down the firewall and out the bottom behind the body mount, then along inside the ch***is rail for all the engine bay and front lights. There's no hole for it there either.. just had to get on it and not let perfection stand in the way of progress, as I do tend to procrastinate on the small stuff. I may run a wire through the firewall for the temp sender, or may run it the long way down the front of the engine and along the ch***is, or maybe low along the bottom of the firewall, see what happens, its a bit vague at the moment.
I'll run the rear cables up the A pillar on the p*** side, and along inside the roof, then down into the trunk, and figure out how to get them to the tail lights..? I dont remeber how they got there originally, and I cant see anything in all my old 'before' pics, do you know how Ford ran them at the back originally?

 

Neil, when I got my 40 Tudor it had a repro wire harness and it went down the driver side frame rail to the rear lights. The one wire to the license plate light came up through a hole in the trunk floor to the lid hinge and then down to the handle to the light. When I rewired the car I put all of that on the interior floor and routed it to the rear through to the trunk. I Dynamated the floors and left a "channel" for the wires to run in.

 

I also ran the wires, in my coupe , up the A pillar and over the door to the back. @RAK is correct on the original path of the wiring to the tail lights. It sounds like you have a solid plan for the front wiring. I was curious because I mounted my fuse panel on the drivers side and it is pretty crowded there now.

 

One reason for my decision to put the wires on the floor was the length of the wires that were provided didn't allow me to go the extra distance above rather than below. I also have the battery on the p***enger side of the trunk with a buss bar for all of the grounds required in the rear next to it. All of the necessary grounds at the front go to a buss bar on the fuse panel and a wire runs to the rear buss bar which in turn attaches to the negative terminal on the battery.

 

I looked at putting it there, and thought it might get a bit crowded with the handbrake lever etc.

 

I hadn't thought about the length of the wires, good point, see what happens I guess, It wont be many so I could extend them if needed.

 

I've been able to work on the 40 much this year, other off topic cars have taken priority, but hopefully, soon, i'll be ***embling it!
Ive wanted to get the headers coated, but they needed caps. The place that do the coating have had a bit of a deal on, so I thought id take some time to get the caps done, and get them coated.

With some help and inspiration from @Anderson I made these with the aid of a bit of CAD (cardboard added design)

The idea is that the wing bolts will be safety wired to the tabs to stop them being unwound. Clocking these so they stopped in the right place was a bit of a mare, and I had some issues with the header tube moving when the mount was welded in on the first one, so I clamped the second one to stop it.

A small update, but its not forgotten
