This has been out back for 30+ years. My Dad only ran****mins and turbos. I never did ask him about it. Any idea?
That thing has somewhat of an industrial compressor look to it. Is the case aluminium or cast iron and what was is it attached to?
Looks like an old****mins "Iron Lung" supercharger. H series****mins diesels from the 30's, 40's, and 50's ran them on some configurations.
Dang, sure looks the same as well. I’d had a feeling it hung from the side, but had never seen a****mins with one on them Thanks
I’ve no clue what it was on, should have asked my dad back in the day. But it looks like @FrozenMerc may have it spotted
If it is from an old H (or NH) series****mins, the blowers were manufactured by a company named Schwitzer-Cummins (the same company that produced blowers for the Lycoming engines used in Auburn-Cord cars), that had no known relationship to the engine company other than being a supplier. The H and NH series****mins were built in dozens (if not hundreds) of different configurations around the same 672 ci. long block, so researching them turns into alphabet soup quickly since****mins would sell the engine to any willing buyer or application you can think of. At least it is a proper supercharger for a 4 stroke engine, unlike those darn Jimmy's.....
Dan, had that thought in mind as well. But probably would go broke at a machine shop to fit the darn thing. I’d been wondering about it for many years, just satisfy my curiosity! ps, modify a open plenum intake or a dual plane? Ya know, in case I’m asked
I’m no blower expert actually I know squat about blowers but I would guess open plenum. I’m thinking some experts will be along shortly for the correct answer. Dan
With thought You can make almost any thing work ,,, I would think good for any combo under 300 cid @ 4,500 ish engine Rpm's
My man, at my age I’m not collecting, not selling, sure I’m giving things away. But definitely not collecting
