That thing has somewhat of an industrial compressor look to it.
Is the case aluminium or cast iron and what was is it attached to?

Looks like an old****mins "Iron Lung" supercharger. H series****mins diesels from the 30's, 40's, and 50's ran them on some configurations.

Dang, sure looks the same as well. I’d had a feeling it hung from the side, but had never seen a****mins with one on them

    Thanks

I’ve no clue what it was on, should have asked my dad back in the day.
But it looks like @FrozenMerc may have it spotted

If it is from an old H (or NH) series****mins, the blowers were manufactured by a company named Schwitzer-Cummins (the same company that produced blowers for the Lycoming engines used in Auburn-Cord cars), that had no known relationship to the engine company other than being a supplier. The H and NH series****mins were built in dozens (if not hundreds) of different configurations around the same 672 ci. long block, so researching them turns into alphabet soup quickly since****mins would sell the engine to any willing buyer or application you can think of. At least it is a proper supercharger for a 4 stroke engine, unlike those darn Jimmy's.....

Dan, had that thought in mind as well. But probably would go broke at a machine shop to fit the darn thing.
I’d been wondering about it for many years, just satisfy my curiosity!

ps, modify a open plenum intake or a dual plane?

Ya know, in case I’m asked;)

I’m no blower expert actually I know squat about blowers but I would guess open plenum. I’m thinking some experts will be along shortly for the correct answer.

It is heavy, have to take a magnet out to it and check the pull on it.
