Twenty years ago I had a 57 Chevy pickup and swapped in a 55 grille with minimal effort. I plan to purchase an AD pickup soon, but I don't care for the look of the 54-55 1st grille. From photos of the truck w/o grille it appears that installing a 47-53 grille would not be too difficult. Comments please
I did this years ago, but the other way. For some reason I think there were extra bolt holes that needed to be drilled ...but I can't remember. GMC - Chevy swop can't be done without changing the whole nose.
If you can find the episode of Full Custom Garage where he builds this 54 it'll show everything about removing replacing the grill
fenders are different, inner fenders and hoods are the same as far as fit goes. there is a difference where the hood ornament goes.
Just get a GMC. 1954 and 1955 1st GMC kept the early style grille but better. Just get 53 and earlier in the Chevy. As crazy as it sounds the GMCs are a lot different than the Chevys, they just are.
