I spy a polished piston rod exhaust hanger.
Very cool touch to a beautiful car.
Could exhaust heat have caused distortion? I don't see a nick in the finish.

Yes, they did and I've not enjoyed myself like that in a long time. It was a real pleasure working with a father and son who enjoy each other's company and also know which way the wrenches turn. They're good people and I thank them for their help.

We had a great time. Ethan said anytime.
Even though we didn’t understand anything about how to take the transmission out.

Henry Ford's idea was to drop the rear end and roll it back, and that's what we did on the '48. but pulling the engine and trans together is a heck of a lot simpler. That's what I did on the '46 Merc to get this transmission. I'm just really glad you guys were there with me on the '48.

Cleaning out the Chrysler 354 for our 33-34 Ford frame project. We'll remove the frost plugs this week. It looks like 6 cylinders are honed to .010, 2 are .020 o_O Hope we can get all eight to .030.

Got tires for the front runners and I had to mount them immediately. Now, back to picking away at the little stuff.

Made a good start at shaping the frame rail for my gasser project being I have my NSS 62 Chevy Belair back on track.
Lot more to go on this but progress is progress.

I narrowed a '32 Chevy dash for the Ruby and had to change the instrument cutouts so I engine turned some stainless with a Cratex abrasive stick and cut for the gages.

  21. I successfully figured out and wired my hazard switch so that it flashes the front turn signals, rear brake lights and cab clearance lights (3) without backfeeding into the headlight circuit, the brake light circuit and the turn signal circuit. Fout diodes coming out of the hazard switch did the trick. One to the left turn indicator, one to the right turn indicator, one to the cab lights and one to the brake lights. You'd think that front turn signals and rear lights would be on the same circuit. It wasn't working out that way so I sent flasher current to the downstream side of the brake light switch. All's good.
Then there's the bad. Finally concluded that the Datcon tachometer was junk. Bit the bullet, went online and ordered a Autometer in-dash tachometer. All other (5) gauges are Datcon, but the Autometer blends in.
What's the winter checklist look like?
Finish the emergency brake 1/4-inch rod and linkage
    Glass
    Seatbelts
Roof, felt header, cab marker lights installed and wired
Bending 18-gauge sheetmetal into an express bed, tailgate

    First opportunity come spring:
Remove transmission, find and eliminate the leak
Begin process of****ling, inspecting, insuring and licensing
    Drive, drive, drive.

Thanks Osage. I spent a couple hours on trial runs trying to cobble together a
G code program for the CNC mill but just quit and did it manually. Although that was with the help of the DRO on the J head.
