I thought Packard at first as well, between the general grille shape and the prominent red emblem in the center of the wheel covers. But then I thought that the distinctive vent moldings on the hood sides looked like something that belonged on a LaSalle. It's easy to see why Cadillac thought that the LaSalle was stealing sales from their own more profitable models. 1940 was LaSalle's final model year.

I have some of the wood pieces made for the quarter panels, but need to get the inner and outer fenders in place before I can go much farther. I have no idea what Cantrell used for inner fenders but I'm using reproduction Chevy pickup truck wheel wells. IMG_5838.JPG IMG_5840.JPG IMG_5841.JPG IMG_5842.JPG IMG_5843.JPG IMG_5844.JPG

Both of the inner fenders are installed. The outers are where I want them to be, next step will be to build the wood frames around them. Still have to figure out the sliding window layout so I can cut the channels for those. A lot of work to do before I can glue the whole quarter panel together. Absolutely stunning workmanship. I think I’ll go out in the shop and throw out all my wood working tools.

The wood around the outer fender on the drivers side is done. The steel will get trimmed back flush with the inside of the wood, an inside panel will cover it all except for the inner fender. The fuel fill is on the pasenger side, a straight shot would work better but with what I've got to work with this is the best I can do. Man, And I'm stressing over the wood that holds the sheetmetal on my '26 Chevy roadster? This is great!

Got the p***enger side caught up, still some work left on the gas fill. Inside of the fenders are cut to the finished size. Roof or windows next, we'll see. IMG_5872.JPG IMG_5873.JPG IMG_5874.JPG IMG_5875.JPG
