Features 33-34 Ford coupe bodies

The Old Paint Special is finally starting to look like a car. Still have to fit the trunk lid but then it is down to the small jobs needed to get this one on the road. Maybe by spring.....

 

Off for wiring and a few other things. The finish line is near on this build!

The Old Paint Special is now a running car. Need to install a few parts and then it is on the road.

 

Working on a lot of 33-34 Ford coupe bodies I have to either remove one from the ch***is or place one on, depending on the stage of the build. Rather than get three other guys to help each time, I developed this method to accomplish the task. It requires one helper, four sawhorses and two long planks. Roll the car between the sawhorses positioned at each corner. One guy lifts the back of the coupe body up high enough that the other guy can place a plank on the two back sawhorses. The body is let down to rest on the plank. Repeat the process at the front. Now the body is resting on the two planks. Roll the ch***is out and place a body dolly underneath. Reverse the process and the body is on the dolly. Unless you are a weightlifter best to take the doors and trunk lid off first. Have done this several times without any problem.
