Oh! We ain't got a barrel of money
    Maybe we're ragged and funny
    But we're Rickyboppin' along
    Singin' a song
    Side by side

    I don't know what's a-comin` tomorrow
    Maybe it's trouble and sorrow
    But we'll travel the road
    Sharin' our load
    Side by side

When they've all had their quarrels and parted
We'll be the same as we started
    Rickyboppin' along
    Singing a song
    Side by side

    You guys are great.
    I don't know what I'd do without you. :)

Had a boss ask me once if I was normal. I said, " define Normal". End of conversation!

    You forgot...
    Repairman
    Organizer
    Groundskeeper
    Cook
    Cleanin' lady

    And now... full-time nurse.

Cuz Judy fell and broke her arm about a week ago. Poor girl, I wish it hadn't happened. But I knew it was going to. She's stubborn as can be. She can barely walk, yet absolutely refuses to use a walker.

And I'm racing winter again, trying to finish outside stuff, including refurbishing my welding table and workbench.

    Help me, Mr. Wizard...

    I should probably say...
    "Help us Mr. Wizard."
Cuz it's made everything more difficult for Judy too.
I'm just saying, I'm still making progress on the hot rod front, it's just a major challenge to do everything.
But I'm a force to be reckoned with.
    LOL. :D
Hey... I do way better than a lot of 68-year-olds. So I'm grateful and happy I can do it.
    Back to work! :)

Thanks Steve. I appreciate the thought.
But maybe my post will help you and others understand a little better what I'm dealing with here. And you'll help me by not feeling the need to say...

I promise you, I want to see me get going way more than any of you do. And I'm-a-gonna. When I can.

And I'm hoping and I believe it'll be well worth the wait.

Hey Rick, the "get going" stuff is all meant in fun. Believe me, I know life gets in the way at times........ sometimes more often than seems fair. I am backing you all the way with the Plymouth build. I hope you also realize that all the other stuff you do, especially looking out for Judy, is way more important than a car. You measure up well, man.

That's an excerpt from a poem about dreamers who make too many excuses. Is that what you're saying about me, Danny?

Maybe a wild swing or grandiose nod to Kiplin

I'm afraid it's the sad truth about both of us my friend. HRP

    Please be clear, Danny.

    I ask again.
Are you saying I make too many excuses?

And what is "the sad truth"?

    I'll interpret.
    The sad "trooth" is:
    *We're getting older (slowing down)
*Life continually gets in the way.
    *Money is ALWAYS an issue.
    *Time is ALWAYS an issue.
*Being a habitual slacker (in my case) doesn't help either:(.

The journey is just as important as the destination. As long as you are enjoying the journey, all is ok.

Just to wake up the next day is in itself a great day and as twenty8 said above it’s all about the journey - take care of yourself and Miss Judy and the rest will follow - we are all in this together and wishing you the best Brother Flea

    Thanks, guys.

Danny's a friend. And Jack's right, he was talking about all and any of our collective difficulties. Not just mine.

I'm going 12 to 16 hours a day lately. And up a couple times each night to let dogs out or if Judy needs something. But I guess I only mention it cuz I don't want you guys thinking I'm being lazy on the hot rod.

I'm trying to keep that good attitude and actually be grateful for the challenges. Or at least accepting of them lol. I figure I'm here for a reason. And if I can build a neat hot rod in spite of the obvious odds against it, well, I guess that's pretty good.

And as I've said, fast or slow, I'm enjoying and savoring every little bit of the process.

I do have something good I can share.

Nothing definite yet, but it seems that I may be getting the Jones QC that GearheadsQCE Bruce Schneider had just started building for me. I spoke with his son, Travis. Nice guy like his dad. A very busy hard-working young father about to add a fourth child to the list. So we won't bother them for now until Mama is home and rested with baby on a regular pooping schedule.

I don't have Bruce now to put the QC together for me so I guess I would have to do it myself. Hopefully I can get enough help here and wherever I need to.

Another challenge. But a welcome one.

For me, I can't force the hobby. If I'm not feeling it, it isn't going to happen. It will end up being redone or digging a hole I have to climb out of.
I HAVE to eat, I HAVE to sleep, I HAVE to relieve myself. I do not HAVE to go play with cars, and if that does end up being the case, it's not play, it's work. I have put together many cars and trucks over the years for myself. I have never made a profit of the money and time on them. If it's work, it's unpaid work.

Maybe I'll eventually build the QC.
Might do an 8.75 or a Dana 60.
But for now, an early Bronco 9" is going to be the quickest and most painless way to have the width, lug bolt pattern, etc that I need.

Picking up this one in a couple days.
