  3. The ch***is is back home. I was lucky that there were no weather incidents that got in the way. This is actually a big deal. Without the ch***is getting done I can't put the drive train back in. That would slow things down if I had to wait until spring to move the car. I just received a notice that the pistons will show up Friday. I will be able to put together a fresh rack. I'm just waiting on the crank to return and the new rings to ship. With the engine out I can do a good scrub on the frame while I wait.

It never gets old. The new pistons arrived just like they said. Ordered a racer set of ten. The old ones were still good. They get put in the trailer as spares. It never hurts to have spares.

Nitro cars don't use spiro locks or clips to retain the pins. ****ons are used. The oil control ring holds them in place. The cam cut rod goes on the valve relief side of the piston. These procedures can't be messed up. The engine won't turn over. The rods are numbered on one side only. It makes it fool proof during bearing changes. The pistons are numbered also. Filing rings is next. .035

  10. Sure did removing valve guides. Oil on my hands wasn't a good idea.
The coating is some kind of anodizing. It's very hard. It's difficult to machine. The cutter and chips glow red. It smells bad. Once through it machines like normal.

Congrats on the family addition. Last Dec 7th I added the ***le of Great grandfather and at the September Bonneville World Final he was trying to steal the drivers seat from his dad our oldest grandson. At 10 months already a Bonneville meet under his belt. I’ll be waiting and watching you next year for sure. IMG_0461.jpeg
