Saturday Nov. 15 starts the new display at AACA Museum near Hershey, Pa. There a little for everyone, some old and some new, some customs and lots of hotrods. Several are well known, historically significant cars. Make plans to see them.
That reminds me that I have to renew my membership this month. I would love to make a trip to see the museum and go through the library. Chuck that up on my bucket list of things to do
If you are a paid up member to the AACA club you get into the AACA Museum for free. They are two separate organizations.
Ok, now I can say what's at AACA, LOTS of Historically Significant Hotrods. The Super Bell coupe, the Jimmie Summers '36 coupe, Irontrap's '32 coupe, Jon Shuchart's T roadster, the Gene Winfield '32 with Ardun engine now owned by Rob Ida, a '32 coupe from 3 Dog Garage to name a few. A few Corvettes, a few customs, a local '34 coupe and a Model A with a Riley four port, a T with a Rajo head built by Pete Eastwood, a '31 Buick from The Faces of Valor, a belly tanker, The Big T, and a beautiful Silver '32 coupe with ghost flames. And that ain't all. The place was packed last night. Thanks to all the people that made this work.
Antique Automobile Club of America. The club puts on the Hershey fall meet car show. This is the museum that also uses AACA name. I am sure Irontrap will be posting video on his youtube channel.
Ironically … The AACA public forum forbids any post referencing hot rods, customs or any other ***ociated vehicle. Any such post will be deleted. Jim
It's their long term policy. They've always had their heads in the sand. 1999 Chrysler Cordoba with rich Corinthian leather-okay. 1960 Deuce with a hemi-go away. But, like the HAMB, it's their ballpark so they get to make the rules.
Thankfully @noboD is "involved" with the AACA museum and has twisted their arms to STRAY from the STOCKERS to hot rods.. the museum has posted several videos to their Facebook page of the "move in" additonally more info can be found here https://atexpa.org/exhibit/old-school-rods-and-customs/
In the FWIW column there's at least 6 cars displayed that would have fallen into the Historically Significant Hotrod cl*** that was discussed about 25 years ago. The rules as I remember were had to be built by a known builder, and/or been in a TV show, movie, magazine etc. , had to be built at least 35 years ago and been certified as being the actual vehicle not a new clone or copy .
Honestly I love seeing the original cars and appreciate all the work and that goes into preserving them but let’s face it they are not worth a **** if you can drive and enjoy them. I’ve got a Dearborn Award, AACA Grand National Senior Award car sitting in the garage that really hasn’t moved in 17 years because it’s way too nice to drive. Im starting to get the bugs worked out of it so I can start driving it more regular like and in the middle of gathering parts to be able to turn it into something that you can enjoy at a Goodguys show riding around with the a/c on. We can blame @Moriarity, @guthriesmith and the HAMB in general for influencing, encouraging, and helping me do this. I’m glad you posted some pics because it’s nice to be able the see the Super Bell Coupe again. I have loved that car since I first saw it in Street Rodder and at the NSRA Nationals in person.
Yes. Much more enjoyable when you can get them out n the wild. Most here will agree, the quickest way to a finished hot rod is to start out with a cream puff. Hahaha
Will do on the full image thing. As to being too nice to drive I know several of these cars are driven. The Super bell might have 100K on it and still has the original paint. The Faces of Valor car was a DD at one time, paint is 30 years old. Google "Faces of Valor Buick" if you don't know what it is. Irontrap drove his coupe about 70 miles to deliver it for this display. I will try to get some more pics but I was hoping others would help out. I'm not Stefan Marjoram with a camera.
Did not get to go yesterday but will be checking it out soon. I knew Matt was going to have the 32 there, love that hot rod, and he drives it!
Thank you for the photos. It was a real treat as a young guy to see the Ewing Super Bell coupe here in Fresno that grill emblem needs to be r-popped (hint hint) so I can put it on my Blue Belle sedan which is a tribute to the Super Bell company that was here locally.
Doug, Thanks for posting the photos of the hot rod show. I was unable to get any photos on Friday night because of the big crowds. I did get a photo of the one on the turntable owned by Gary Wolf.
