Hello I buying a 1951 ford car outside sun vizor and would like to know how much should I offer. I don`t have an idea of it`s value and don`t want to offend the seller with my offer. Can they be found easily? Thanks. Juan
Recent fibergl*** gizmo. One lousy bracket in the middle. Strong p***. He's insulting the public offering that for sale. Visors are a matter of personal taste, with most having a negative opinion of them. In my opinion, only run one if you like visors and it is an original. Mine was a dealer installed option and has been on the car since new. I've gotten accustomed to it and it's of great benefit when I drive into town to pick up my mail on a sunny afternoon. Check out the differences.
After taking a closer look at this it’s a factory one like mine but with the stainless removed. I honestly have no idea as to what they cost now but I wouldn’t give retail so to speak for it because it is modified.
Hello All I like the Fulton sun vizors you guy`s have. The one I`m buying from my old crusty shoebox friend is an Original Ford item according to him and he knows old shoeboxes. He has not named a price yet he is looking for a sales slip to let me know how much he will be asking. Thanks for your response as I don`t know much about shoeboxes. Juan
Hello Lostin51 The picture you have posted is great and I will save it. I have not seen this type of Sun Vizor before and I appreciate your confirmation that is a genuine Ford accsesory. I didn`t know about the missing trim and will ask the seller if he has it. I hope he does because after looking at your car I realize it makes a difference. Would you kindly post a side view photo of the whole car to have a better idea of how it looks.Thanks. Juan
Just curious; how man visors are you talking about? There are at least two in the pictures in the first post. And if the one in the first picture isn't fibergl***, I'm gettin' new gl***es.
Hello Tubman This is a genuine Ford sheetmetal sun vizor . On top is black and the came with the green painted undersides according to my crusty shoebox friend. I just got new gl***es it helps with driving and up close work. Here are pics showing center attach spot welded and metal reinforcement to the end. Thanks for replying. Juan
Im not a Ford guy & most here on the HAMB dont love visors. I do know the Bomba/Lowrider guys still love them & they always have decent value. The similar factory or Fulton style on the similar model years Chevy would be 300 to 600$ all day long complete & in fair condition. The trim (if it is missing) would affect said value. I like em, & run one our 52.
Hello RMR&C Not having the trim is a bargaining chip but finding out the the trim might cost more than the vizor would be a bummer so I might have to put the buying on hold.Thanks. Juan
Hello, One day I was out running errands. This Ford Sedan Delivery was spotted from a block or so away. It was parked on the side of the road, but I could see the Tahitian Red or Candy Apple Red color between all of the grey, white, and black cars. As I approached to take some photos, I noticed the sun visor. It matched perfectly and had a chrome strip to highlight the front trim edge. That gave the sedan delivery a finished look. The rest of the sedan delivery was spot on as far as a 1960s look. Sedan Delivery customs were rare back when we were teenagers. Only the home delivery guys drove them. Currently, the offer a great platform for custom accessories and security with solid panels for privacy in the back cave. YRMV Jnaki This Ford Sedan Delivery would look nice and actually fit in our small two car garage… Yes!
Hello jnaki My father owned a 1953 Ford station wagon it was blue and white. Over the years starting in 1936 he always bought FORD station wagons. he bought later a 1948 woodie, the 1953 and a 1957 which he gave me when I was 12 years old to learn drive. The last station wagon was a 1962 red station wagon. from then on he bought Ford econoline vans until his death from cancer in 1978. I have fond memories of the family going on trips on the station wagons. I remember we made a long trip with our dog Morning star, we made a stop on the road and the dog dissapeared . I guess it went chasing something and we had to leave it because my father had some important business and it was late. About four months later we had to do the same trip. on the way back we were going thru the same area and we saw Morning star on the side of the road,we called him and he responded. looks like somebody had taken care of him but we couldn`t find out who to thank. We got him back on the station wagon and returned home. Juan
Hello, When we had to sell our old Craftsman House on the far reaches of the Westside of Long Beach, we moved to a larger (900 s.f. vs 700 s.f.) house a block away from our elementary school. The odd thing was, our old property with the craftsman house(s) were all torn down to make a new elementary school, for the growing number of families and young kids. 1947 to 1952 was a popular time for kids to be in schools. Our new/old house was built in 1946 and our neighbor had a series of station wagons. See the red/white version of a 55 Ford Station Wagon in the background. That family had two sisters and they always went camping during the summers as a family. Their station wagon was packed with “stuff” and their dog. The film I took was in 1957 and they were already into the newer 56 station wagon versus the one we saw when we first moved in during the 1952-53 year. Jnaki But, by 1958 a new community had just started in the far reaches of eastern Long Beach and the city of Lakewood was born. The epitome of “tract housing” was born and folks flocked to that new home area in droves. That included our neighbor family. They left to be one of the early families in that new city. Later on as teenagers, Lakewood was the center of our outdoor shopping mall adventures. It was one of the first ones in the USA, as part of a planned city. YRMV
