Dude...I was just there last week. Beware..Russell has had some jack*** from Coloumbia telling him that all his old stuff is worth GOLD....so his prices were waaaaaay out of line from the last time I was there. Hope you catch him on a better day.... -Abone. PS. If you need anything, I am 2 hours down the road in Charleston.
No way! I plan to be in SC on Black Friday with my old nova! first roadtrip in the old jalopy. If all goes well, maybe I'll stop along the way!
Russell runs ... HOT/COLD ... It depends on his mood. Sometimes he almost gives it to you and other days he wants new retail ... He has given me stuff and then he more than made it for it later. He has spaces at Charlotte AutoFair so he is not a dummy ... and he knows some about eBay. Temples was a lot better when his Dad ran the place ... years ago. May see you guys there ... if I do not go to Daytona ...
I was there a few months ago for the first time. It's the biggest junk yard I've ever walked through. There was some neat stuff to look at. But we only walked away with some hard to find trim pieces for my Dad's '79 Z28 Bracket Racer. Does the stuff rotate out fairly regularly? There's also that yard we always p*** going back to visit family in Greenville- so it must be on I26 or I385 (maybe it's in Fountain Inn??). It's pretty much vintage tin only. My Dad walked through it once. I guess I always figured it would be pricey- but worth going to look at.
It is on I-385 ... Most of that stuff is not his ... it's there on consignment I have been told. He is always HIGH ... too high but he sells some to the YANKEES who end up that way and see the mostly rust free ( by northern standards ) vehicles. .
Unfortunately ... the stuff does not stay there long and it does rotate. They have a few of these ... and they run 5 days a week ... Some of the stuff has been there a long time ... simply because they cannot get to it to crush it. Go look behind Verbe's house ... ( Russells Dad ) it is where the stuff sits that they saved back ... sadly most of it has rusted too bad to be used now. Lots of stuff has sit there for 10 -15 -29 years.
Off the top of your head, do you remember if you've seen any '60-'66 Chevy Suburbans there? These were all 2-door, not the later 3-door type. The '60-'61 had that big twin cowl hood, and the cabs had that overhang above the windshield. Thanks, Brad
last post---any questions my cell #610-653-8469....will be going to 2 yards....nice weather....looking forward to a good day......stan
Two yards ... ??? Where else ?? For those thinking about coming ... the National Weather Service is forecasting a nice day. SUNNY ... 9 AM ...50 degrees Noon ...63 degrees 3 PM ...67 degrees The high of the day is 69 degrees ... Bring your own sun screen, drinks and snacks .... and hand cleaner ... One of the better Bar-B-Que plates in the state is in Batesburg-Leesville SC , about 5 miles away. Buffet style ... and been in business since 1969 ... http://www.shealysbbq.com/ They serve two styles of Bar-B-Que, fried chicken, vegatables and a salad bar. They also have a dessert bar. I try to eat there at least once a month ( 35 mile drive 1 way )
Second yard will be Sand Hill Junkyard.....dont know anything about it, never been there....just heard about it on monday....got directions and its a go for the afternoon......stan
