I would have been 8 at the time. Was this the show that Bill Hines was at? All's I did at that age was draw hot rods and customs and make model cars and I remember drawing up a lead sled and having Bill autograph it.
I think this was the show where I tried stepping over a parking fence and ripping my shorts.
My mom made a video of my brother whot would have been four or five making some of the cars levetate with his hands out stretched like Moses.

  20. One thing that I noticed from that era was the use of full wheel covers. As fads flip flop with time, it's easy for you to change wheel and tire combos and completely change the theme of your car. I think that's a good thing. :)

So many cool rides that we still see today at CCR or KKOA, and so many that I've never seen. Thank you for the peek at the past.

Wasn't that a good event? I attended too.
Remember the short lived 110 camera with the small negs? My work with that thing turned out more fuzzy than I wanted it. Stopped using it after that. Your images came out better. I remember lots of cars there. Enjoyed your pictures. Thanks for taking the time.

First time I think I've seen this post and pics. What a trip back in time...
Saw Merle Berg's '55 in full paint at BTT50s about 98 or so. Had to just walk around it a few times to soak it all in.

I am pretty sure that Merle customized that 55 back in the early 60's. He drove it in primer until the late 90's when he put that flip flop pearl paint job on it. Merle in my humble opinion is one of the best auto body custom craftsmen in the business and a super nice guy to boot

I gave Merle a hard time about his bare metal Model A roadster pick up. He told me they gave him the paint to do the 55, so he was going to wait until someone paid for the primer for the RPU. Merle is a great guy for sure. That 55 was in primer when I met him in the 80s. The hammer and dolly collection in his garage is quite impressive.

I saw Merle a month ago at the Monticello swap meet and chatted a little.
