I posted this on another thread but it applies here. This came in to me on Wednesday of this week. It answers some questions IMG_3243.jpeg

It's been in the mail since January according to what people were told at the GNRS last year. Maybe this year when they tell people that it will be true.

Noticed that Magoo's Street Rods posted on FB that they have been delivering #87 to their customers. Maybe there is still hope.

If they keep claiming it, it's bound to be true eventually. A broken clock is right twice a day :)

In my opinion it is pretty poor that rodders journal has been dispatched to distributors for sale but not to subscribers.

I for one will not spend another $ on them. I don't give a toss how good they are or how much they are trying to get back on track - I have had enough of their it's going to be in the mail soon.

I have a lifetime membership and it’s apparently on life support with the plug jiggling in the outlet almost ready to fall out.

Why do I say that? Because the lights are flickering and my mailbox has been devoid of any RJ issues for well over a year now.

As they say in the movies, it’s not looking good.

I've been trying to stay out of this, but if this is accurate, I agree. Should be sent out to subscribers first since they've had the major part of keeping it afloat. That's not cool at all.

We have given hope for Steve many, many, many times. We have listened to excuses, reasons, personal issues, problems, postal issues, this and that and that and this etc for years now. All BS. He has been given more leniency than anyone. Why has he moved so many times? Because he hasn't paid rent. I know this as I knew one of the landlords personally. Didn't pay rent for months and left the place torn up. He gets me that he was walking around "Strutting His Stuff" at The Roadster Show this year. A crook and a jerk. He is a bad person. Oh, doesn't he still owe money to people for some car parts too?

I would bet he needed the money for the issues he sold to his distributors to pay for mailing subscribers' copies. At this point the finances can't be anything more than a shell game.

Well, of course, none of us really know, and no one is standing in his shoes. But one must admit this is s a possibility.

The guy has been saying since January that the latest edition was in the mail. He did the same thing right when this all started in Australia. Months of "It's in the mail". Then when after months of nothing showing up he changed his tune and claimed the mailing house destroyed the magazines and that was why they were delayed. Why would the mailing house do that? One reason and one reason only because they were not paid and they were sick of storing his magazines for free. There is very little doubt at this point, unless people are just burying their heads in the sand, the continual excuses are to cover a lack of funds.

...so,...you guys that are down on Steve and his magazine;...go out and buy all the other magazines like his....oh, that's right, there ain't any...so there ya go.

  17. Rusty1.......to be fair to the guys , myself included who as far as I can see have never been down on the magazine, far from it, I think that without an exception we all WANT the magazine to continue and have tried to support it the only real way by stepping up with cold hard money........the various delays and then the lack of feedback regarding the supply, etc are not doing the best hot rod magazine nor its publisher any favours........I like most guys want it badly and wish it & Steve only the best but to be honest its hard to be positive......Andy Douglas

  18. I have been buying Rodder's Journal since 1998 (issue 9), major reason I never subscribed was I could buy TRJ from Grafitti Publishing it was always delivered way before those with subscriptions were getting their copies.

There have been plenty of threads over the years where Barnes & Noble were stocking the latest Rodder's Journal before those with subscriptions were receiving theirs. It ****s, I imagine frustrating but nothing new, just more noticed given the last 5 year ****show.

I received my TRJ-87 Thursday I purchased from Cruzin Magazine like Andy

I think what most are saying is that they'd like the magazines THEY'VE ALREADY PAID FOR.

Not really an unreasonable position when you think about it.

I will say that I'm looking forward to seeing #87 if it comes through the pipe AND the next HOP UP when the kids who produce that wonderful mag get around to it. (They only take our money when it's ready to send out btw).

Have I missed something? Nothing against our foreign friends but how come #87 is available in many foreign countries before the USA?

I think the issues that went to Australia shipping was paid for by Australians.

Shipping to domestic subscribers is paid for by TRJ....

That is not what's happening. The guys getting them in Austrailia are buying them through local distributors who have received shipments of magazines. They did not get individual copies sent to them from The Rodders Journal.

Your missing the point, I'm 1400 miles from the TRJ headquarters and they're halfway around the world. I understand the foreign bulk buyers are paying the freight to their country. I ***ume he's raising money to keep the US end of the business afloat. It's about priorities. I've been in his position with a business and it's no fun. Wonder about Auto Books?

@Lil 32 , with a cover price of $15.99 that is A $24.80 so I’m wondering if the additional A$14.20 you paid is a shipping fee, customs tax or just simply a seller’s markup?
And @Jimmy B paid even more of a markup. Your quest for knowledge is admirable, but wow. I feel for you guys Down Under.

  30. I can't speak for the business that both Jimmy B & myself have bought # 87 from but when I had my hobby shop & imported cases of AMT, Revell etc model kits the items are paid for using a credit card at the prevailing exchange rate, plus the credt card co. charges, then when the shipment arrives in Oz, at the Post Office Customs Clearing House, the Oz government charges include a 10% GST or Government Sales Tax charge on the USA cost of the shipment PLUS the GST is also paid on the FREIGHT CHARGE, that is, we here in Oz pay an extra amount, the GST at 10% on what we have paid originally as a Freight charge to the USA shipper who pays the US Post Office...........then when the shipment is in the OZ companies hands they or I place a mark up on the goods to the Retail Price........and YES, when I imported my goods I got a "wholesale" price but I and the Rodders Journal importers had or would have had to purchase a substancial number of goods, way more than just the single copy.........lol..........but yep I understand people wondering how come their subscription copies havn't arrived yet retailers both USA and local to Oz have bulk copies already for sale.........I have a subscription but no copy though that system, hopefully the copy I purchase 2 days ago via the local importers will arrive next week...........Andy Douglas
