Olympic Boulevard at Tice Valley Boulevard in Walnut Creek,Ca. Saranap Filling Station. Old gas pumps. Who remembers Frank's Auto Service? Was the last station in the area for 100+ Octane fuel .

An old gas station from the 1960 time period. converted to empty, then to a used car sales office for many years.

    Hello,

For many years, the remodeled old 1960’s gas station was on PCH was a successful used car auto dealer. When we used to drive through this part of the city on PCH, as teenage surfers on a long 100 mile road trip, it was a thriving gas station, competing with the other gas station across the street. We would see who had the lowest advertised price for gasoline and make a decision to stop if we were going farther south than Camp Pendleton on this particular road trip.

The station looked like this one, but with gas pumps. The old gas station across the street with bars on the window also had gas pumps and competed with each other from those days we drove by as traveling teenage surfers.

Once we filled up, we could make it to our Baja, Mexico surf spots and stay a week until it was time to head back home. The return trip would just make it back to this small city, near Camp Pendleton and in the southern part of the city, another old gas station was the main stopover to fill up again for the 50 mile home trip.
upload_2025-12-2_2-35-47.png The southern most gas station that was active as a car repair business had long ago, stopped serving gas. Then after the pandemic, closed for good.

(that one across the street from the old car dealer has since been derelict until 2024 when it turned into a skateboard shop during the Paris Olympics) ( iron bars on the other building across the side street show what happened after the shop left suddenly in 2025, derelict again…)

Now, the car dealer has since closed and the owner has remodeled the station again. Now, making it available for any particular business or another car dealer/ repair shop. This time, it has been cleaned up and is ready for a new shop to thrive again on PCH. It includes A/C, too. But, no gas...

The good thing is, 1000s of cars go back and forth in front of this new/old gas station. It is ripe for a company to move its wares into the place and thrive, again. YRMV
