I did a search but came up empty?? Didn't someone on the HAMB have repro 2x2 slingshot intakes for flatheads. Also known as poor mans 2x2 that bolts to a stock flatty intake. My period late '40s needs some more dress up and that intake fits the look of the perfectly.
found this: Don Orosco — Eddie Meyer heads, and Ardun and Eddie Meyer intake manifolds 10 Harris Court, Suite B-1 Monterey, CA 93940 (831) 649-0220 days (831) 626-2660 evenings
some backgrond in him: http://www.ardun.com/ardun_histrory.htm i think he also owns the mcmullen roadster some more flathead links: http://www.roadsters.com/flathead/
Speedway has both early and late Eddie Meyer. Not sure if they are the Don Orosco re-pops, his are supposed to be first cl***. Speedway also has flathead Hillborn injection.
Vintage Speed offer's a dual to single carb adapter know in the 50's as a Y adapter. That you can bolt up to your stock intake so you can run two Holley's or Stomberg carb's. They want like $99.00 each. http://www.vintagespeed.com/ Here's the Eddie Meyers lntake from SpeedWay Motors. http://www.speedwaymotors.com/xq/aspx/paging.yes/dept_id.698/display_id.1858/qx/Product.htm
www.verntardel.com He makes "the poor mans unit Y-2 carb adapter" that you speak of Go to his website for pricing. It is very nice for the price & go right on a stock flatty intake. Tell him Cyclone Kev sent ya.
I was looking at the vintage speed adapters but I remember seeing someone on the HAMB repro a Eddie Myer version that was really slick. Does the Tardel version come pre-drilled or do you have to do that yourself? Any generator clearance problems with a 59A??
The Y adaptor was not made by Eddie Meyer. Their "Y" top was acually the top portion to their 2 piece heated high rise manifold. It is the reverse of what you are looking for since it has two carb. risers and three holes (two for the intake match for the base of the manifold & 1 for heat). Almquist and Dixie Western were the two main suppliers of the "Y" adaptor piece back in the day. Tardell's is pretty nice. I've heard mixed things about the Vintage Speed/C. Price unit. Keep in mind that this piece is really for looks and do not expect great performance from it compared to a intake designed for multiple carbs.
I sold the original Y adapter to Charlie Price that he made his copies from. It was a Speed Gems, but he puts his name on it now. If that adapter actually makes a flathead run any better, I'll be a monkey's uncle (traditional term). Lots of square corners and constricting ports do not make for a smooth flowing fuel mixture. Tardell's Y is a bit smoother.
