There's a lot of people that think an air bag 4 link is the same as a drag racing 4 link, I see that often across the internet. Several years back I was reading "Door Slamers, the ch***is book" and there was such a flood of information about 4 links it was kinda overwhelming. I decided I'll just stick with my ladder bar for what I'm doing, you'd almost need your own set of scales to really dial in a 4 link.
Went to paint on Saturday. I settled on GM Artic White. We discussed something more cream colored like an India Ivory, but I wanted a bright white as my base. Painter was pretty happy with how clean and straight it is. I told him we're not building a show car; I intend to drive and race this thing a lot. I have so much work to do when it comes back. lol
So, they are traditional? I do get what everyone says about them, but I, myself kinda like them. The AMT 1956 Ford model had those wheels for the G***er option, as spindle mount. I always liked that look along with chrome reverse on the rear. I am back and forth on using those or the chrome slots that I already have on my 55 Ford G***er. I also have a nice pair of chrome reverse for the rear. Just my couple of cents worth. The thing to remember is: whether you like them or not, all that matters is what the owner of the car likes. Ron
Huh indeed! The HAMB has skewed my opinion on those, as much as I think they look great on these cars.
I've got to wonder how many were actually made, I've seen this adverti*****t brought up on the internet a few times in the past. But ..... nobody has ever posted a photo of the real thing and nobody has ever said that they had a set or sold a set while working in the tire/rim business.
But if even only one set was ever made, it set a precedent. Not that I like the look. Personally I’d prefer the old Halibrand style solid cast wheels, the ones without windows.
I don’t think your picture is exactly the same as the one on the catalog. Did they change the design over time? Or is it just an optical illusion, or in my case delusion. Hey, I’ve been called crazy before… but I’ve been called crazy before.
It is the same wheel from that ad. In the thread I also posted the catalog if you can find it. Thats the only spoked wheel Mickey Thompson made besides 5 spokes. I think it's easier to Google Mickey Thompson 10 spoke wheels and one of the first things that pops up is the hamb or search here for super spider
I never knew the magazine wheel was a super spider (guess I should have enlarged the photo), sure looks different to me, I had saved some super spider photos a few years back.
How do we feel about these? They're going to show off the slotted and drilled disc brakes, but oh well. Brakes is one place I won't feel guilty about not being correct on. If im going to buy these I might as well just buy American Racing torque thrust D's. https://www.speedwaymotors.com/ET-V...MIwvSe2aickQMVOSCtBh3AKQF9EAQYAiABEgJO7_D_BwE
The straight spokes look good. If you do buy the Americans, the TTO (Torq Thrust Original) is the one with straight spokes.
The 15x4" ET five spokes (rounded, dark) are about the closest looking to the old style magnesium Americans, though at a substantially higher cost compared to the garden variety American Racing branded wheels of today. I do think they look better without the polished rim.
