Hello all, I have a SBF mounted in my Model A and I have a radiator with drivers side lower and p***enger side upper. In years past I would go to my parts store with a piece of welding rod bent in the right shape and they would hand me a darn close or exact fit. Well, as you know nowadays if they gave them year make and model they would have no idea or not get it at all. The question I have does anybody have the PN or a good guesstimate as to which upper and lower hoses might fit? I did a search and it has been covered for SBC but not a Ford in a Ford. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Here’s what I did in another situation: went on line and reviewed the Gates line. There are measured diagrams for each hose they make. I made a list of “possibles” and went down to O’Reilly’s with part numbers (they use very similar part numbers and IIRC they have measured diagrams on line too) and looked at their inventory and had them order one they did not have in stock. A quick intervention with a razor and some soapy water gave me the hoses I was looking for. Kind of tedious, but worked well for me.
AutoZone and O'Reilly's.........fuggetabou***! Any NAPA store should have a large selection of hoses in back and counter clerks older than 12 years old. Defroster hose is great for mocking up a radiator hose. Kindly ask them if it would be alright to go in back and match it up. I've been doing it that way for years.
Yeah, my local NAPA had a bunch of white haired old guys out back (like me) now it’s clueless kids with nose rings, just generalizing, but seriously I have to educate them almost every time
Defroster hose, then fill it with spray expansion insulated foam, which holds the shape. I built a 351W and put in a p***enger-side lower discharge water pump thinking I could get a cheaper radiator with a sbc-type hose connection. That opened up a nasty search for the right hoses. IF Lumpy63 hadn't come to my rescue with a suggestion for a 90-degree aluminum elbow for the lower hose, I'd still probably be beating my head over this. You'll find the right combination. There are plenty of choices.
