WHOA Uncle Bruce is my kinda uncle! That '56 Ford Pickup is the BOMB!!!! Man do I really dig the fenders on that bed! Sure the other cars are ok and it's a cool slice of life frozen in time but that pickem up just knocked it out of the park!
What spectacular pictures in quality and content. Yes you looked like a very lucky kid to have such parents. My childhood was much more sp**** mostly due to finances. We were fed and given clothing and loved and cared for. We never could afford a vacation. Left the state when I was 19 for the first time. My toys consisted of a used bike and hand me down toys. Electric train, metal and plastic cars and Lincoln logs and plastic building blocks. Thanks for sharing.
PeteJoe- To be clear, these aren't my personal pictures. They belong to the Blizzard family, who lived in So Cal in the 1940s- 1960s. These images come from his YouTube uploads. (Sounds like I grew up more like you, with not much $ to our names!)
Wow that is spectacular and look at the world today how it has changed. I grew up in those same simple times it was truly Americana and family at its best. My Dad and Uncles exactly the same teaching me what I know today about life and old cars. Thank you, it made me smile and almost brought a tear to my eye bringing back the days of growing up.
How special to have preserved that time period in your life with those pictures. Very cool family, wish my family had been that fortunate. And that 56 F100….. at first glance it looked pretty good, but after I studied the proportions a little more, it was….off. And I love, LOVE, 56 big windows. I own one. Have owned a total of three over the years. But Dad had pretty good taste in his cars, and the uncles too.
Having grown up on the east coast during the era of those great photos, I blame all my problems because I didn't grow up in Souther California's car culture.
