Yeah that's the place. I drove by tonight, it looks like they cleaned up quite a bit, but there was still some stuff sitting in back. Some guy was dragging it out with a skid steer to a car trailer on the street. I almost stopped, but I have to finish one of my other projects before I pick up another one.
What about my place? I am down a few cars, but still have the market cornered on '57 fords. I am in for Sat.
Okay, so our Tisler's run was a success. I picked up a seat for my F100, Squablow, Rob Paul for President and Fiddy scored ebay scores. Here is a youtube video of our trip: <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/CbSCSO5ZMh0&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/CbSCSO5ZMh0&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object> So next on the schedule is a UP yard trip. I say we all pile in my short bus with a trailer behind, make a two day trip out of it and score some goodies. I have a list of a few places to hit that are supposed to be real good.
I was just at Russels today...... all I can say is WOW. I go back on monday to pick up my oil pan.... Been at least 15 years since ive been to a yard like this....
I buy from Jack's all the time. They can be ****s, but consider the cir***stances. At the same time, they are knowledgable and Doug goes out of his way to help me. They source from other lots all over the Midwest. Seward's is great. I haven't bought much, as Jack's is handier, but I like Hank and his son. Their yard is extremely well organized, unlike Jack's, and they know what they have without even looking. My compliments to both.
Was back at Tisslers yesterday and got a really clean Stromberg 97 off of an engine that was sitting in one of the old semi trailers. Also got a set of Carillo licence plate lights for an O/T project and a '57 Chevy front seat. All for $50.
Hey Fella's I am near Madison. I am always looking for yards with VW buses in them. I only work on Volkswagen buses 1967 and earlier. I found a few out at Chase's and did get some parts form him but yea, he is spendy. I guess why there are still parts to see though! There are a few at Troy's but they are really picked over. Also one at a yard I didn't see mentioned in the thread which is Golden Sands Salvage in Boscobel. That is a really neat yard but they guys running it are really, really odd birds. That bus was rolled and had good parts in it but they only sell whole vehicles there. Anyways, appreciate any leads on yards with old VW buses in wisconsin! Josh
Can anyone help me out with some specifics on these places please. I'm in dire need of 53-54 Chevy and 55-56 Cadillac parts. Any help would be greatly appreciated guys! Thanks a ton!
I know this thread is a few years old but there is a good salvage yard in Hortonville WI. Graveyard Auto. It is a U-Pull yard but they have hundreds of car parts and few cars for sale. Check it out!
I've been to Auto & Truck Salvage in Sullivan, WI (fairly close to the now-closed Jack's Auto Ranch) twice in the past few months, and found a few things a****st the older vehicles. They have maybe 30-40 HAMB era vehicles, and a bit more '60s and '70s stuff, too. Nothing rare nor Holy Grail level that I came across, but some interesting stuff nonetheless. Might be worth a visit. My first trip was in late April, and by late June, there was so much plant (mainly Sumac) growth, you can't really make out most of the vehicles. Not difficult to walk/push through, but it helps to go when the plants are not actively growing.
They have a few Corvairs, a '51 Ford four door sedan, a Hudson Hornet 4-door sedan, a '50(?) Plymouth 4-door sedan, two '61 ish Thunderbirds, a '56(?) Cadillac, three Studebaker Larks, some Ramblers all very late '50s and newer), some '60s Ford, Chevy, and GMC pickups, a '30s Chevy and Ford 1.5+ ton truck or two, some early '60s Mopars, and so on. A few early Slant Sixes, one near complete Flathead V8, two Poly V8s, one Stude V8 and one I6, and the near complete GMC V6.
Thanks in the Pink, i was wondering if some of lance's cars ended up there that i didn't buy and i see that they have from your pictures. i haven't been in there in a few years even though they are only 5 miles away. They asked me to be friends on facebook the other day, i should really get down there and say hi to Mark and see what he has hauled in. I know the last time we talked he said he was trying to hang on to the older stuff like the yard was known for before wildbill crushed it all out before he owned it. Use to run into Mark all the time but I don't get to town anymore so I lost out on the local gossip.
I haven’t been to that yard in decades. Do they allow you to just wonder around look at stuff? Is it fairly dry or swampy like part of Jack’s was? It would make a nice day trip, grab some bug spray and a camera.
Yes, I was able to walk through it freely. Definitely not as swampy as some of those low lying area at Jack's, but there were some puddles on the main path/road which can be walked around. It might be a challenge to take pics now, with all of the vegetation growing-- most of the pics above were taken April 24, 2024. I had a hard time remembering/finding where certain vehicles were when I was there this week due to the plant growth.
Just came across this on craigslist: https://milwaukee.craigslist.org/pts/d/trego-parting-out-old-salvage-yard/7820174310.html This appears to be Kesller's Auto Salvage. Never been, but pretty someone mentioned it here at some point. Someone has pics of some vehicles here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/leakybrain/29001589687/ "We r parting out 3,000 vehicles we have 1915-2019 vehicles we specialize in old cars so we most have old stuff call or text with needs 1 715 520 twenty nine sixty five located in earl wi we take cash only We have 45 ac(r)es" Address: W4451 County Rd E, Trego, WI 54888
I was there 30+ years ago.. Got a few parts then. Almost missed the yard as it was off the main road. there were quit a lot of cars then.
New(?!) '64(?) Olds F85 Wagon in the Sullivan yard. Some good trim, especially wagon specific interior pieces still remain. They have moved a few things around the yard, and in the process cleared a bunch of brush, so it's a bit easier to get around some of the old stuff now, too. I believe the below is a '55-ish Chevy panel truck, had rear barn doors:
I'm planning to go back to Jack's this spring (would have this year yet but I think the weather is going to prevent that) I'll have to check out this Sullivan yard as well. I definitely never was in that one before.
Hot Rod Flash - try talking with Brad at Elmer's Auto Graveyard Fountain City, I was there a couple weeks back on their fall junkyard tour and saw a few mid 50's Caddies and a few Chevs of that vintage. Good luck.
I was just there, got a front bumper for my Nash project and a bunch of other cool stuff, hoping to go back in spring. Very nice people, good prices I thought.
