IMG_3681.jpeg Frankenstein throttle pedal for Dart. I couldn’t use the /6 set up. After a lot of jockeying around it seems to be in a comfortable position, if I like it I’ll make a nicer one.

  7. Took one of the trucks & the enclosed trailer to pick up Laura's Christmas present yesterday! I was lucky that even though it was a clean, lifelong Texas car, it had been 65 miles from my house for the last 2 years so I didn't have to go very far

No pictures till Christmas, because I want it to be a surprise but it is a '57 "Baby Bird", red w/white hardtop.

    God Bless

So I have came to the conclusion the 1918 Hupmobile model R touring body I don't have the heart to cut it up and turn it into a Roadster pickup and it is just too big to install on a Model A ch***ised banger although it doesn't seem like anybody is interested in The body so it may get hacked up yet but only time will tell...
Anyways for those of you that have been following I have been putting together a Ford Model A ch***is that I have pretty much no money into because I've been buying everything at a state sales and swap meets and I think one auction I can't imagine excluding the new parts I had to buy at CW Moss I'm in that thing more than a few hundred dollars for the hard parts. I posted some pictures of it on this page not too long back probably a few months ago of the progress I have gotten done. Anyways a few weeks ago on terrible OfferUp (The cl***ified ad app for your phone It's not real good generally speaking but you never know and this is proof why I still use it) I saw a Ford Model A Tudor body that was for a pretty reasonable price and it looked like it was a rolling ch***is but there was only one picture so I messaged the guy and went out and took a look at it I had to get my buddy to go with me in his boogie van and borrow the neighbors trailer because again I don't have a truck anymore mine smashed into bits in the backyard... Anyways long story short I bought the tudor, It was technically a roller although barely The guy I got it from said He bought it in 1982 and the guy he got it from said it looked the same way when he bought it back in 1960 so this car is pretty much confirmed to have been off the road since probably the 1950s and at that time it was probably used as a parts car and what did the car in is the front axle is bent the front crossmember is smashed and somehow the rear crossmember is tweaked. I took a picture of the front crossmember because I've never seen a worse one ever and even though I don't necessarily do hot rods all the time in my past I am definitely familiar with it Model A frames...
Fast forward to me getting it home I got it in the driveway and I decided to pull the body off the ch***is, I sold the busted up ch***is to my buddy along with some good cross members I had acquired over the years and a new front axle and a ton of other bits that he needs to make the ch***is a decent with some elbow work I think he's going to have a pretty nice setup. I also gave him an extra model A engine I had, a transmission and pretty much everything else to make him a complete rolling ch***is But that's a story I will let him tell If he ever logs back on here again (box car Chris) and some other bits so back to My never-ending project I'm in the car body almost nothing at this point And today I decided it was time to mate it to the "resestored" Model A frame I have and so that was today's project and it is coming out pretty good although I learned something new a Model A frame is not a model A frame there are subtle differences between pickups sedans roadsters and coupes But for the most part the body's on there and there are no problems only solutions So here are a few pictures of my hupmobile model A project for the point .002% of you that were following this build. From this point on it will be called my Model A two-door sedan and the hupmobile body is for sale I put it up for 1200 bucks but I'm flexible if anybody's interested my ad is on marketplace and craigslist).
If anybody in Southern California has some 30/31 Model A two-door sedan parts I need a ton of interior stuff I don't have any of the garnish moldings, I don't have any of the window regulators, I need a windshield, The side windows and pretty much everything else that goes on the inside of that car If you have any of the lumber for the body framing if you got the door latches some door handles I might be interested in it, as much as I love the old Ford store and CW Moss I'm poor so I am totally okay with used stuff But this isn't the wanted to buy section so onward to the project.
As I progress on this I will keep you posted I bought a water pump kit at CW Moss in Orange a few days ago along with four or $500 of little itty bitty bits and pieces. So I am going to rebuild the water pump and the rear axle and hopefully figure out how to run the hydraulic brakes I'm trying to do everything traditional other than I'm going to put a dual reservoir master cylinder on it mainly because I got one and secondly because I plan on driving the car why not make it a little safer. I also bought a late 30/31 gauge set from eBay that doesn't look terrible but unfortunately now I got to use a different gas tank but I have one so that's another issue although I have questions about cleaning it out it feels like it's got 20 lb of nasty in it How on earth do I clean it, I would take it to a radiator shop but it doesn't look like there are any of those left here in California that hot tank gas tanks What do my fellow Southern California people do when they need a old gas tank cleaned out It's not like I can go to Vintique and get a new gas tank?
Here is the project as of about 3:00 Saturday afternoon... I have to say mounting the body is a huge win even though the reality was it was pretty easy It makes a pile of parts all of suddenly feel like a car.

  13. Okay that's pretty neat. Some of you guys on here have got to be the most creative people I've ever seen...
Do you know how many times I have p***ed over a single finned aluminum valve cover at car swap meet for a small block Chevy thinking that I didn't want to store it for 10 or 20 years until I found a match and then you found a way cooler thing to do with it.

Installed the newly powder coated wheels w/ poverty caps on the Ranch Wagon. The fronts were easy peasy but the rears were a real PITA. Had to jack up the rear by the frame, undo the shocks, and deflate the tire to get it under the fender well. Tires are only 215/75/15's on 7 inch rims. Have no idea what Ford was thinking back then. After I got done I rolled it out into the sunshine for an in progress photo.

Very nice. Just a thought, could you have flipped the shackles and given yourself enough room for the tires? A crowbar will work for that. When I was racing, I would do that to get much larger tires under a '55 or '56, then flip them back up.

When I first put in the new 8 inch from a Maverick somehow the rear shackles got flipped. It was a PITA to pop them back. Not sure if it would have been any leas work but thanks for the suggestion.

Well; here's the difference between Mark's high-cl*** display and the rest of us hacks who just want a place to store some distributors and have a place to work on one occasionally:
