    Oh LOL my mistake.
didn't Jeff Foxworthy say. If you mow your lawn and hit a car...........you might be a redneck? Same hold true for vacuuming? Sorry couldn't resist. I build my first chopper in my spare bedroom. ;)

Here I am wishing I had even just a carport. The asphalt driveway is taking its toll on me... or I'm taking the toll on it...

If you don’t clean out the living room too, it’s all for naught.

been over 15 years since I have had it running. There is corrosion growing out of the back of the master cylinder, that, the clutch slave cylinder ,wheel cylinders will have to be rebuilt, I am sure I would have to remove the blower and rebuild the carburetor and probably replace the fuel pump. Last time I ran it the starter was edgy so it should have that looked at too. All for a car I can’t legally drive and it is a ***** getting in and out of it…. I know that’s a lot of excuses but there really isn’t a good reason to get it running again……

    Hello,

If our garage was a museum with tons of hot rods inside, they would also be forced to be cleaned out monthly. Not that our garage ever got “that” dirty. But, my wife had this thing about garages and access to the house directly from the two car space. Your space does need more frequently cleaning as just ordinary dust settles when one opens the garage door and now over time, it ac***ulates.

So, for you, it would seem as a more frequent cleanings need to happen, not just annually.

    upload_2025-8-13_4-15-44.png
Once a 1.5 car garage. Then it became a light tight darkroom, Harley parking and work bench + a 65 Red El Camino. There was no room for another car, let alone a small Corvair.

When we had a small two car garage, we had a Harley Motorcycle, two bicycles and part of the wall was a workbench/dark room work table for the enlarger and developing trays. Our garage was supposed to hold two cars, but the El Camino and Corvair just did not fit inside. So, the old Corvair had an outside parking space. Once that took place, the worktable got expanded for actual hammering/sawing work and the darkroom table took on its own characteristic and space. But, it was all wiped clean almost daily.

Dust is an enemy of all photographic activities. Now, one thinks the garage was an open flow of air as most garages have vents and loose fitting doors. But, ours was sealed tight with no light visible when the big door closed. Now, it was a dust free environment for the next two to three hours. But, after the working hours in photography or working on cars/Harley, all things were picked up and stored away to leave a clean surface for the next day's project. Whether it was the same thing or a new project, each day had a new clean surface to work on or with. YRMV

From that work environment to a real house, our garage and house got the monthly cleaning work until our son was diagnosed with allergies and now, our house had to be cleaned weekly and our garage almost as much. Although he did not go into the garage for extended times other than getting out of our cars when it was raining outside. He was fine with me keeping the worktable clean and empty of projects not being worked on or used. All cabinets had doors, too.

    Note:

The clean garage mode has followed us from house to house and now, the cleaning takes place almost weekly, being expanded to monthly. I kind of like it as the garage counters are clean of stuff, the cabinets hold all of the tools and other stuff. So, now, it looks like a nice room in our house.

When work happens, the tools come out and the project gets done. When finished, everything gets put away in their respective drawers. Our garage has the standard screen air flow vents. But, the counter and work space stays clean for artwork, fix-it projects or new creations. Hand painting or fixing things is easy when everything is in its place and yes, both of us know where things are.

Since I am in the garage more times than my wife, I am used to where things are. If I send my wife to get a specific part or tool, I have to tell her “2nd shallow drawer below the window shutters.” That makes it easy to know the drawers and their placement. Otherwise, they are all closed and the counter looks clean all of the time.

yes, I do clean more than once a year, the cars are dusted usually weekly and the floor is swept often. The once a year event is floor mopping and a deeper cleaning....

Very nice! We had a 1963 Rayson Craft FB with a 421 Pontiac and V-drive. Yellow with a wood deck. It was fast and scary. They called it "Mom's Ulcer". I'll have to see if I can find a pic.

Put the lawnmower in last, then you won't have to move all the cars just to cut the gr***! ;)

Great looking shop. I need a crew to come in and clean mine. It's become kinda of a ****hole since I had my new knee installed. I was never the best custodian. My philosophy was a one man shop never made any money with a broom.
