Screenshot 2025-11-16 093121.png Winduptoy, you might consider using a water pump with a real water pump seal. I'm guessing these are an aftermarket pump designed to stop all the Model A water pump maintenance. They appear to use early V-8 impeller and seal and are easily spotted by the umbrella style impeller.

They show up on Ebay pretty often. I see 2 of them this morning, in fact, I pulled this picture from there. I have 3 of them on the shelf, one appears to be new. I haven't used one yet so I can't say how well they cool or seal. I intended to install one last summer, but the stock pump on my engine is working fine at the moment so changing water pumps never made it to the top of the priority list, haha.

  2. Tough to argue with! :D Hate to see you sell the last banger though.

Evidently I don’t have a Miller head, I have a CRAGAR. According to this video and confirmed by Winduptoy. But why in the world would someone grind the logo off?

Nope, just the name on the valve cover. As far as I’ve learned, the internal stuff is the same. But I’m still trying to find all the info I can.

Possibly, the logo was removed so some previous owner could attach a personalized name plate of some sort.
With all the CNC milling available it probably wouldn't be too difficult to get a little name plate made and epoxy it in place.

  12. Dan Eubanks made meehanite iron cranks, steel and aluminum rods and also a couple OHV heads
Probably ended about 2010 or 2012

    Gobble gobble!

I remembered that one of the things I should be looking for this "shopping season" is an engine stand/cradle, as I hope to bring my spare motor back from my folk's house.

Do any of the commonly available JEGS/Amazon/HF/etc. stands readily work well with our bangers? Unfortunately I just don't have the time right now to be monkeying around with making adapters and stuff. Just looking for something with wheels that I can roll into the storage area, and roll out to help me mock up my intake, headers, and water pump mount for my very stalled OHV project.

Ill run it til more issues show up but for now, light runs and starting it once in a while.

Do you run some sort of inhibitor? Penrite (an Aussie oil co) make a coolant/inhibitor that is clear & suitable for br***/bronze components, we use it on all the old cars at work.

Sounds good, thanks! I wanted to get another Christmastime Vegas meet-up on the calendar, but have had so much else going on this time of time year I wasn't able to commit to a date. Maybe we'll try for February or March...
