Ok so let's really test this off topic thing... Ever watch a movie and feel like you're the only one on the planet that is seeing a particular detail? Like it was meant just for you? ...and when it comes to customs and hot rods, you either get it or you don't. Whoever created the cars for Furiosa sent us a tiny little love note that only we can decode. They must have said to themselves, well if I'm creating a grille, might as well make it iconic.
I saw this one prowling the Portland streets at the Portland Transmission show this spring. Needs a magnet mount, popcorn machine on the roof.
Ford sold a lot of torinos just like that because of that show. Just thin how many chargers Dodge would have sold if the brought back the 69 during the Dukes of Hazzard. Le lesson was not lost in the GM camp though. Pontiac had a winner 2 times in the Firebirds with Smokey and the Bandit and knight rider.
Yeah, instead they took an outlaw, shine runner car and turned it into a damn Police car. I am depressed.
King of the Mountain corvette If you listen carefully at the beginning when he circles the Porsche and peels out it's the soundtrack from the American Graffiti 55 when he races Milner.
Daisy seemed to go from a 71 road runner, to a 72 Satellite and also a 73/74 Roadrunner. Read the had a hard time finding enough cars so the Boys ran it over a cliff when the brakes went out and that’s when the Jeep, was introduced. They said Chargers were much easier to find.
I remember a gal I went to school with bought one of those... It was her high school car... I've also seen them in a metallic grey with the purple side stripes.... Yeah, that one looked weird....
Yes, I agree, No marker lights. As a MoPar guy I was happy the first time I saw the movie on WXIX as a young kid and noticed a Camaro was killed instead of the Challenger.
As a kid and a budding car nut The Great Race ( 1965 ) was for me a enthralling adventure movie. I wonder if todays youngsters could follow it for the whole 160 minutes. Sometimes it pops up on TV at Christmas or NewYearsDay.
Just finished watching the move " The Mexican " ( about a historic handgun ) and noticed the Superbird in the line of rental cars offered to Brad Pitt. He chose the El Camino. No, i did'nt waste a half hour trying to make a decent screenshot from Utube . I just went to google and searched "rental cars, The Mexican", . Came right up in a few seconds .
My woodie was used in the movie “Walk the Line” in the scene where they go to Texas and Reese Withers**** is hopping all over the car while they were driving. I’ll have to screenshot the scene when I can find it.
Movie North by Northwest The 56 Chevy in one scene shows it as a regular two door station wagon, another shot it is a (rare) "windowed" sedan delivery, the tailgates are the giveaway. Take another look at the photos--there are TWO different Chevy wagons in the photos! Text from article "The Chevy in the photo with Mount Rushmore in the background is a US Forest Service sedan delivery, which was built with side windows instead of the solid panels! Sedan deliverys had one-piece liftgates, whereas the station wagons had two-piece gates, an The other shots was apparently done in a studio, and a two-door Handyman was probably repainted to match the USFS sedan delivery. Cary Grant is obviously sitting on the tailgate of a Handyman wagon in the main photo. The U.S. Government's General Services Administration, which ordered vehicles for non-military fleets back then, specified that the sedan deliverys be equipped with the full window treatment, according to one expert I know".
