    My neighbor has one with a very warmed up 350 in it.... engine in front.... pretty cool car....

    My brother was killed in one in 1967. Wasn't the car's fault, an old lady in a Caddy did a left turn right into the side of the Corvair. The only injury to his body was a bruise on his temple where the hood of the big car hit.

    The car does have a severe defect i design though. My sister-in-law was driving it when the steering wheel pulled out of the column. The factory used a 2-bolt serrated split clamp to attach the column to the steering box. the bolts would loosen and the serrations wear off disconnecting the wheel from the box. That happened to me on my Willys. Solution is replace the defective clamp with a Borgeson joint.
