Hey guys, I just changed the Antiquities Cl***ifieds forum to: Off Topic Cars, Parts, & Antiquities Idea being, we have a place to move cars that are off topic into an area where they can still be posted... and maybe even saved by the next owner. You can find it here: Off Topic Cars, Parts, & Antiquities
The rules post says pre-65… if enough people want it, I’ll push it later, but I’m not super interested in hosting late models.
I'd be ok with a year cutoff date of 1975. That's still a 50 year old vehicle and fits the spirit of the off topic discussion section.
I'd vote for 1975 as that is the last year not to require smog inspections in CA, so would certainly be a lot more HAMB friendly than anything newer...
1975 is good, that includes muscle cars and ends around the same time chrome bumpers disappeared. All due respect to Ryan, don't think he is actually taking a vote on this!
Well as a cl***ifieds junkie I welcome this opportunity to expand my horizons on stuff I can buy that I don’t need
Great idea! My buddy Kenny tried to put up a shoebox Ford with a well done chop, but it had an S-10 sub. SO it got shot down. Now he can put it there!
Thanks @Ryan , As soon as I saw the change, my 1st question was the year cutoff. I would also vote for 1975 if asked. God Bless Bill https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...ar-transport-hauling-open-or-enclosed.614419/
1975 sounds good, but I just read where the collectible and special interest world is moving into the eighties and nineties, hard as it is to believe. Keith Jackson of Barrett Jackson said that on an interview I caught last week. Us old guys are disappearing.
I for 1 say NO. Keep it at 65. Ther's enough other sights for the Late Model Junk to be posted on. This sight stays very active as is. It will just get saturated with non-Old School input that will totally change the Flavor of what I've been enjoying for over 20 years. A change like that may also require more Moderators to manage the new direction. My $0.02 worth of opinion.
I've held off listing some stuff, will give it a try. My reason for selling late model stuff is to make money to buy EARLY stuff. Bob
I'm with you. I'd be cool with 1965 and earlier (like the board) instead of pre-65 but I wouldn't go any further than that, it'll just get crowded out with non-board-participating dealer ********.
I vote 75 and older. Lot of good cars in the 65 to 75 time frame, muscle cars, Lincolns etc and there were quite a few customs and lead sleds built in this Era style to. ..
I know Ryan said “pre-65”, but I’ve always thought 65-older? I Gotta go look at the rules again. Edit: “ Customs built in a style representative of 1965 or before, “
Pre 75 for most GM would be points rather than electronic igniton, That is also right at the end of the V8 street super car for the most part. The last Serious **** kicking 440 Mopars were around 72. After 72/75 it comes down to "awh ****, I gotta go see what that little emblem says to even know what the hell you are looking at too often . Rather like that Can't find it in a parking lot silver V6 thing my wife drives that will run far faster than I want to drive it.
