I was finally able to get back up to Nebraska and pull this ‘41 Ford out of its resting spot, its been there since atleast 1958 from what the family can remember. It is a standard with one wiper, one visor, and one tail light.
The engine is stuck but none of the plugs are seized and I’m curious to why it was parked. The plan is to get it mechanically repaired, headers and some period go fast parts, do the interior stock, and leave the exterior as is.
And if anyone has pictures or old pamphlets of a 41 standard please let me know, I haven’t been able to find much. IMG_6495.jpeg IMG_6499.jpeg IMG_6497.jpeg IMG_6500.jpeg IMG_3610.jpeg IMG_3611.jpeg IMG_3614.jpeg IMG_3620.jpeg

Good score !!! I’m surprised you couldn’t find one in your neck of the woods. Northern Alabama was a prime spot for finding cool cars.

Is that some sort of aftermarket heater I see under the hood?

There are a lot around North Alabama, but this was a family land and this car was free. I’ve been eyeballing it for 25 years and am finally in the place where I can do something with it.

I think it’s a factory option. The controls are under the dash knobs, if it is aftermarket, it’s a very nice set up.

I grew up in East Birmingham. As a kid I used to drool at all the cool old cars we would p*** on the highways…And Yes !! The price was right on your 41 !!

  8. It appears to be outstanding, in a field, by itself. Hehe

This is my first flathead and i’ve wanted one for a very long time. The mystery of why it was parked at only 15 years old is the adventure I’m most excited about I have no doubt I can get it running with a couple of weekends unless it has a broken crank or bent rod.

The body is very similar to a 42-48 but with exposed running boards. The front is all diffferent than a 42-8 but I think you can interchange them if you also swap hoods.

ch***is wise I believe the axles and brakes are the same as a 40

I love that they kept growing and harvesting corn around the car all of those years.

Looks like you are out west in the sand hills, one of my favorite areas for shopping.
Tin stays pretty clean out there! Nice Ford you got there.

****** remarkable! Still has V-belt and donkey ****s, looks like you could crank it up and drive it out of there. I can't even find a 70's car in that condition. Nice rescue!

Well added these to the related thread about wheel bolt pattern so might as well add them here. I had this one in high school in 1962.

Used to be an old fella that had a body shop in town that had tons of NOS Ford parts that my dad and I bought from years ago back in the 80’s. But the last time I was there I picked this up…… IMG_3801.jpeg

Congrats! I have a soft spot for 41's. To be honest, I like them better than 40's. Just don't tell anyone. :D Reminds me of when I drug a 47 Tudor out of Nebraska about 25 years ago.

Your car is an early '41 as you can tell by the knockout on the firewall for the early manifold heater (man killer). Any exhaust leak pumps the carbon monoxide right into the drivers compartment. I wonder how many people were killed by exhaust leaks and the cause of death was "fell asleep at the wheel''. The heater and car are in great shape from being in a field since 1958. Good luck with your build. If you are looking for a book on your car the V-8 Ford Club offers a 1941-1948 Ford Book that has most any features of your car.

True vintage tin! Out here in Cali, tin like that was prevalent in the '70s and even into the '80s. Fast forward to today.......pretty much non-existent. Excellent score! Keep us informed of the progress.

Poor thing has sat in a pasture for 70 years, and gets covered in mud and road grime its first trip. IMG_3682.jpeg
