Just a few miles from home. thumbnail - 2025-11-29T150547.740.jpg thumbnail - 2025-11-29T150554.289.jpg thumbnail - 2025-11-29T150600.066.jpg Not for sale... guy wants to save if for his grandson. If I had a dollar for every time I heard this response, I'd be retired in Florida by now.

When I hear that, I excitedly ask him how much he's taught the boy about cars. Has he gotten him past auto theory and mechanics and moved into restoration methods yet? (how to cut, bend, weld, etc). Sad how smiles from both sides of the conversation tend to fade away after that question.

Don't know the answer to that... I do know I'm the first in line and he would contact me if intentions change direction.

  15. I just want to put my arms around that '28-29 and say to it, "I'll take good care of you now, fix you up, get the rust off, get you running again." It reminds me of my first car, a 1929 standard coupe. I sure miss that car.

In a shop I worked years ago a guy came to buy a restoration project : a 356 C. He was super excited, it was his dream car. The car had no floor and was leterally starting to break in half, it was a reconstruction, not a restoration.
I asked him if he was of the trade, no. Did he know how to weld, no. But as he told me : that's not a problem, I'm an engineer, I will buy a welder and all the parts are available.
Never underestimate the enthusiasm of an inexperienced person, especially the one who thinks manual labor requier no skills and no knowledge.
