    Hello,

When my wife and I started our 327 powered project 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery, it had been in our small two car garage. It took a long time to actually get it to the daily driver status. But, with the help of a friend with his wheel/tire business and his skill as an “all everything front end mechanic,” it ran like a brand new car. Now, it commanded the main spot in the two car garage.

The photo equipment and Harley Sportster Motorcycle took over the other part to create a good size1.5 car garage.

The 4 year old Red El Camino had to stay outside in the harsh weather for a couple of years. But, all was not lost.

We moved to a real house, but that was a first step in making our lives solid. The drawback was that since the house was a new design and on a small lot, the surrounding homes had carports and not enclosed garages. So, one side always got blasted with weather and sometimes the other car near a solid wall of the hillside stayed relatively clean.

Covercraft was one of the best that started in So Cal and is still in business, today, but is in another state. The full car cover was during the hot rod popularity era and was fit to perfection.

It covered the whole sedan delivery from top to bottom and even had a tie strap that ran underneath to make the cover sit closer to the actual car during extreme winds and rain. (and had loops to be able to lock it if necessary) Yes, we did have wind and rain coming off of the ocean blasting the coastline during the stormy seasons.

The good thing was, the cover had a lining that did not scratch the paint surface and kept the moisture off of the whole sedan delivery.

It was a popular cover made for all types of hot rods and sedans. If one was driving to a long distance car show or gathering, in the early morning parking lots at the local motels, those covers were in full force over all of the different builds.

    Note:

The morning sun usually had enough power to dry off any slight moisture and the whole cover could be folded up dry to store in the trunk, in this case, the back cave.. The full car cover extended the life of the wax job and made it nice. Normally, we did not need a car cover in a normal garage, but the car port under our house exposed the sedan delivery to all weather fronts.

6 years later, when we sold the house and moved to a family oriented single story house, the enclosed two car garage provided security in the weather and did not need a car cover. So, another hot rod guy in the neighborhood had one of his old cars outside that needed a cover and luckily, with a few mods, fit nicely on his old sedan. YRMV

My old neighbor had one of those big plastic bags blown up with an air pump. No idea what they cost but it was pretty cool. mouse proof too.
