Not wanting to mount on top of the frame rail; and thought it just would look a little cleaner mounted on the inside. The first one was easy; matching the other side was the challenge. still needs tidying up, but it put the bucket where I wanted. Hard to see in the pic, but the stem will clear the frame rail.
Lots of ideas here. I think I'm mostly looking for something with the original brackets cut, bent and welded. For a fenderless two door I "think" I want to go with a slightly lower than stock placement. But not real low like a lot of the roadsters. And I "think" with them having some height, a crossbar may be necessary. If you've hacked up a stocker, please keep them coming. robj

This is my setup. I cut the stock bar in half, bolted each side to the top of the frame then heat and bent to get the look I was after. I cut off the extra bar when I was satisfied. That extra helped in the bending.
All great shots. Zax, That's more what I was thinking. Lower than stock, but not too low. And I can't help but think the crossbar doesn't add some stability. And I like the slight arch to the crossbar, again, not too much, not too little. On a stock A I believe the bottom of the lights are slightly above the tires, [the stock wheels] Your's look like they are slightly lower than half-way. [?] I was thinking maybe half-way. Sort of where you have to look at it twice to really see if they've been moved. Any chance you have a profile shot? robj
Anyone willing to fess up to having "jiggly" headlights on their car (especially with the attached shock mounts and no crossbar)?
Not really garbage in or out, I think it may be the way the search function works here. I always do a google search using the word hamb first and a few key words after that. Seem to get a lot more hits, and I also use it if looking for my own threads sometimes, just seems to be quicker. .
I made mine,in late 1950s,from "A" Fender Brace. Cut off just above bottom hole of the two holes that held,both fender n cross bar for head lights 28=then heat n bent just below of,now top hole to mount headlight. Used adjust cup under head light n big washer. History;big old stock Ford lights were used with Flathead V8s { did not light road well},but by the time Over Head V8's were out n used,we used 7inch sealbeams=worked way better. Some times a 7in. sealbeam install kit was used with the old big bucket< most thought the big old buckets ugly/not racy/aero,so trashed big,went to small after market 7in. lights> You want to be with history ,use the lights as above ! If want to be trendy copycat,but wrong histoy wise,use the big old stock Ford lights/or new after market fake big lights{ those have new tech bulbs that do light the road,but dose not change real history of why real hotrodders used 7inch sealbeams with overhead valve V8 as power!!! I'll add that photo of my home made headligh brackets= I still have n drive my highschool rod from late 1950s,only updates fromhow it looked in Miami Sr Highschool 60-62 are now headers are chrome,I went to Alt. vs gen. n Rad is now alum.
