If it went to who I think it did, there's a good chance that it'll get restored back to how it looks in the Emmons photo. A long journey, no doubt, but they've done more with less.
This Car is the exact reason I keep an Old '32 frame, Several Olds Engines, a Wood Steering Wheel, Early Bell Axle, the right Five Spokes, and several other pieces. Whoever got this is really lucky. While you have to squint to see this in what's left, it is a beautiful squint ;-). Someday............
Can anyone put me in touch with the guy who bought the remnants of this once Glorious Roadster? - Tim
No info on the new owner, but I completely missed this shot the first time around. Here it was when it was owned by @bava17 nearly 20 years ago.
I'm definitely having an infatuos moment with this. I wish the new owner huge success in bringing this back. If he's watching this and is thinking about getting rid of it, well he can Message me anytime!
Just ***essing the condition of things. The first cleaning of the original interior is yielding pretty good results.
Looking great. Is it you who posted up on IG looking for M/T valve covers with a pic of the roadster?
Was it double railed ? Looks like 32 rail's or to look 32 Then look @ front frame horns , So was it a A frame with sides to look 32 Or just weird way front horns
So I think originally, based on the Michell photo, it had a non pinched deuce frame with possibly model A front horns. Then, based on the picture from 10 years ago, in the 80’s, during an unfinished rebuild, the owner pinched the rails. Not sure if this was the original front horn configuration or not.
@bubba67 Congrats on getting this roadster! I bought it from a gentleman in Applegate CA from an ad. in the Cruizin news. I had it a few years then with a wife and two young kids at the time, I decided I wasn't going to get to it anytime soon. I think I saw it way out in the far parking lot on an open trailer at the March Meet in Bakersfield this year. maybe that was just the transport guy? The info and photos that I was able to dig up when I owned it is all in my previous thread about findin it and then for sale. Some of the verbiage is below. Thank you and ALL THE BEST!!, Steve Here are some pics of my lastest project/newest toy. It is an all steel '29 Roadster on '32 rails. The body is totally staright, no bondo, no rust. The story I got from the guy I bought the car from is that the car was built as a hotrod in '65 in the Bay Area somewhere. In about '66/'67, a gentleman (I think his name is Jess Alexander, (Hayward) according to the pink slip) bought the car from a used carlot in Oakland and drove it and raced it in Northern California from that time until about '77, then parked it. Supposedly, he drove and raced it with a bigblock Olds and a 4-speed. As you can see from the pics, the car came with many, many parts and pieces. The car has the original, from '65, laquer teal paint job with purple flames. The interior and deuce grill shell are also teal, with the seats and door/kick panels treated to a teal and white tuck and roll job. And actually, i finally got a hold of the owner/builder. Jess Alexander from Hayward is his name. now he lives in Anderson, Calif. basically, what he told me in his letter is that he bought the car in '73 (from a used carlot in Oakland, according to the guy we bought the car from, Mike abbey) and drove it for a year or so as it was. He tore it down in '75 and redid the whole thing including all paint, upholstery and mechanicals. He painted the car himself, including the flames and stars. He street raced the roadster all over the Bay Area and Fremont Raceway. The car won first place at the Cow Palace in '75 in the "Street Roadster" cl***. He had a roll bar in it at one time that went into two "plugs" on the rear cowl behind the seat and one piece of the roolbar went down to the p***enger side floorboard. The plugs (chrome of course) are still there as well as the holder on the p***enger floor that it would attach to. He had a 394 Olds bored to 402 in it with a Muncie and Olds rearend. He tore it back down in '85 to redo again, unfortunately got sick, and never put it back together. It's really, really *****en. It's not missing too much. Engine, driveline, exhaust, battery. Has all chrome suspension, interior (including matching door panels and kick panels), body parts, chrome Olds rearend, etc., etc. Has his "race" set of wheels (magnesium) and tires (M&H racemasters) and his "street" set of wheels. He also sent along copies of the 3 photos he has of the car in it's "done" state from back in the day.
